The fifth annual ‘Our Neighbors, Ourselves’ art gallery and fundraiser takes place on Friday, September 22nd at the McNichols Building in Civic Center Park. The gallery experience will feature artwork from dozens of visual artists, as well as live musical performances by Tom Hagerman (of DeVotchKa) Ensemble, Bluebook, and DJ sets by Jonny DeStefano and Christy Thacker.

The unique evening of art, music, food, drink and community will debut a collection of original artwork inspired by this year’s theme “Faces of US” - a look into the qualities embodied by the people of our country. A celebration of how they are as unique as they are universal.

Art will be available for purchase the night of the event, and all proceeds of the evening will go to support Project Worthmore (PWM) – a Denver nonprofit that provides direct programs and services to the local refugee community, including English classes, a dental clinic, and a refugee training farm, among others.

The event will also feature a live virtual reality experience by DenVR, where guests can immerse themselves in a three dimensional collaborative painting, as well as an auction with prizes including international trips.

Tickets to ‘Our Neighbors, Ourselves’  are available now at www.projectworthmore.org/ourneighbors. Complete event details are included below.

About ‘Our Neighbors, Ourselves’

‘Our Neighbors, Ourselves’ exists to bring compassionate artists together, and through diverse creative expressions, cultivate the inherent value and dignity of human life.

Now in its fifth year, “Our Neighbors, Ourselves” is Project Worthmore’s biggest annual fundraiser. Monies raised help to develop and strengthen critical programs that welcome and support many of Denver’s 50,000+ refugees.

The name ‘Our Neighbors, Ourselves’ comes from the familiar concept of loving our neighbors as ourselves. The idea is as universal as it is critical, not only for restoring dignity to uprooted lives, but also as a means to stop the spread of violence and oppression which creates displacement in the first place.

As an event, ‘Our Neighbors, Ourselves’ serves as a tangible reminder of our inherent need for community in all facets of life, and in all corners of the world, right here at home.

About Project Worthmore

Project Worthmore works to restore worth to our refugee neighbors through the heart of our community. Every family we serve has a unique story, a steadfast courage, and a resilience to survive and rebuild their lives here in Colorado.

We provide programs that foster community, self-sufficiency and increase quality of life among Denver-area refugees.

Started as a makeshift response to the unmet needs of our refugee neighbors in 2009, we have grown to offer a variety of programs and services including English language classes, citizenship classes, a community-run food access program, a refugee training farm, a five-chair dental clinic, and access to Community Navigators and Family Partners.
