Balkan Bump, the newest project from trumpet player, producer and ethnomusicologist Will Magid, launched to an unexpecting audience in late 2017 with his debut track “Aymo” alongside superstar collaborators Gramatik and Talib Kweli. Finding an affinity based in his own Balkan roots, Gramatik has championed the new project by debuting Balkan Bump’s first live performance at Gramatik’s NYE show at Terminal 5, taking Balkan Bump’s live show on the road for the Spring 2018 Re:Coil tour, and releasing Balkan Bump’s debut EP via his Lowtemp label imprint.

The self-titled debut EP flaunted his experience as an instrumentalist and arranger, fusing energetic Balkan brass with heavy electronic production and hip-hop/trap influences. Following its release, Will put the word out and enlisted four seriously talented producers who took a crack at remixing the stand-out track, “Aymo" feat. Talib Kweli. Belgian beat maker Poldoore succeeded in making the remix even smoother than the original, one half of the Beats Antique duo- Sidecar Tommy- chopped the original up to make it even bouncier, Lowtemp’s stalwart Kotek delivered an incredible stripped down, bass-heavy version, and multi-talented musician/producer Russ Liquid added some of his patented trippy atmosphere to the mix. In short, all four producers took the challenge head on and delivered four different and unique takes on the original.

“Aymo” remixes are out April 27th on Lowtemp Records!
