I think Coop was right-on when he uses the word 'try.' its a work in-progress and something we hope to start doing more often. thanks for your input, guys. stay tuned..

Great of you guys to try to pull this off. Best of luck. Truly appreciate it.

great news. I'll be back later tonight. Thanks for doing this!

hey thanks! that was cool. sometimes the video was up, sometimes it was down... but the audio remained throughout. keep up the good work grateful web.

whoosh! made it through the whole show. the stream was solid except for a 15 minute run about midway. thanks for the stream and nice camera work!

Thanks!!!

i've been in 40 minutes. it's very intermittent... a 3 or 5 or 10 sec piece of audio, then broken, then it starts again. no intelligble video at all, only enough to see that there is a picture there somewhere. i'm on a 11.0 Mbs wireless network.

Thanks for the effort! Never knew dancing in the kitchen with a laptop could be this much fun!! Blue Skies!!!!

aaron's picture

...

we are archiving the show too... in a few days we will have the entire show available for viewing.

aaron's picture

...

no set break? so, we are going to ride it out with our current configuration. sorry if some of you are not getting a consistant feed. we realize how frustrating that is. we are learning a great deal about the streaming process and optimization. thanks to all of you for the input via comments, emails, and phone calls. the future is promising!

Larry's picture

...

second set? Donna?

Larry's picture

...

No vid at all, half-second snips of aud every 10-20 seconds... gotta be b/w

aaron's picture

...

the Fox has 256k up, which is the rate that the server is picking it up at. The Grateful Web network has 1.5 meg up and down. We are looking at creating a multicast for the second set, which could help and allow us to increase the bitrate.

Thanks for being guinea pigs in this venture!

coop's picture

...

COOL! Briefly was clear and right-side up...then...mostly green and upside down...audio buffered in and out

Smoke Chief's picture

...

audio is coming through, but it is dropping out. your server needs way more bandwidth i think, what is your total upload? a 128kbit stream would be bettere than 56kbits. Vidieo is junk for me.

coop's picture

...

what is the total bandwidth avail to the server of this video stream?

coop's picture

...

oops...cannot connect to server...

aaron's picture

...

stream just dropped in order to add an IPOD for archiving.

coop's picture

...

bandwidth is def the issue....thanks for tryin..im getting a bumpy degraded vid and some sound in and out...

aaron's picture

...

the stage is totally dark right now, so you won't really see anything til the band comes on.

aaron's picture

...

thanks for the input Larry. the stream is flowin' as of now. there is a chance that it will be stopped one more time before DTB comes on. We had to reduce the video quality but kept the audio quality.

Larry's picture

...

So now I'm hearing there are 3 or 4 getting vid, a couple getting aud, I'm still waiting for *anything*

aaron's picture

...

the STREAM is down right now. Set break. Donna The Buffalo is up next. We will have a stream up as soon as possible.

Larry's picture

...

"Windows Media Player cannot connect to the server. The server name might not be correct, the server might not be available, or your proxy settings might not be correct."

aaron's picture

...

we are in the process of switching to the LIVE FEED now... stay tuned.

Larry's picture

...

So far there's one person on the Herdlist I know of who's OK with the vid... I'm still trying to connect. Thanks for working like madmen for us!

aaron's picture

...

hey! we'd love to hear webcast SUCCESS stories too. :)

aaron's picture

...

the opening act, Open Road, started 5 minutes ago. we are working like mad men try to get it right. thanks for being here.

aaron's picture

...

thanks for baring with us. bandwidth is gonna be an issue.

Larry's picture

...

Now I'm in the same boat as leadastray... rebooted to hopefully see the vid & can't get back in....

aaron's picture

...

there should be video with the interview.

aaron's picture

...

interview for now... as soon as we can, we will go live to the fox. show doesn't start until AT LEAST 9pm Mountain Time.

thanks so much for helping us out.

Larry's picture

...

I'm getting an audio interview, is it s'posed to be a vid?

Many thanks for the effort!

aaron's picture

...

i think i removed the hops issue! let me know!

leadastray's picture

...

to many hops, wow Im still trying to get my fermented hop intake to an appropriate level. I too am having difficulties, I was in for the interview, got booted and cant get back in. Something about bandwith file to large for the server???

aaron's picture

...

thanks for the input! we are a ways from bringing the live feed and will have things corrected before then!

Larry's picture

...

"The request could not reach the media server. Too many hops."

Whatever that means... am I just too early?

Vikki's picture

...

Same message here-too many hops-any solutions???

rand's picture

...

you efforts are very much appreciated. thanks for picking DTB to stream, a very good choice!

Guess Who's picture

...

Not working for me, i keep getting can't connect, "too many hops" from WinBLOWS media player.

Who's the guy with the hat standing next to Kathy in the photo above? Just kidding... Thanks for offering this webcast, and good luck with it

steve -

this is the only resolution we have to offer this time around. this was our second attempt at streaming a show. though it went WAY better than our first attempt, we have a ways to go yet. one of those future enhancements will be to have high-res downloads.

thanks for compliments!

hey katie. when you say "won't work" i'm not sure exactly what you mean. what version of windows media player do you have?

you can try doing this:

1. copy this url:

http://gratefulweb.webosphere.com/gratefulweb/video/dtb_03.17.2005.wmv

2. Open up Windows Media Player.

3. From WMP's "file pull down menu" select OPEN URL.

4. Paste the URL (that you copied from above) into the OPEN URL box and hit enter.

Let me know!

I tried both ways to download, but for some reason it wont work. Does anyone know if its just that my computers ridiculously slow or i did it wrong or something!?
