E.G. Holmes | 'Wonderful You' | Review

Pianist, Songwriter E.G. Holmes and vocalist David Vanden Enden recently came together for a musical collaboration entitled “Wonderful You”. Want to charm your way into someone's heart and can't figure out how to do it?? Let E.G. Holmes and David Vanden Enden do it for you!! This latest release will work magic for you! What better way to tell someone how you feel then with the gift of music!! Sultry, sexy and sassy tunes from these two along with some friends will win anyone's heart. "

I have to say I was extremely impressed with the opening 3 tracks “The Rumors”, Mysterious” and the title track.  All 3 songs made quite the first impression on me as each one possessed my full unadulterated attention eager for what was ahead. To be honest: I expected cheesy Pop Rock that was extremely predictable and shallow in nature – very compatible for a mass audience. Well shame on me because what I discovered was actually quite the opposite. The whole CD is full of what I would call powerful musical energy with musical styles that appeals to so many different senses on so many different levels. It reminds me of Neil Diamond, Robert John, and Michael Buble. I can also hear the slight Big Band-Jazz-Pop-rock influence in there as well like Chicago and Robbie Dupree. What I really like about Humble is there is no attempt to sugar coat the truth or deliver what I call over the top pop rock. Cheezy music with a handsome face via top flight sampling, cookie cutter songwriting via a mix that sounds more like a commercial than a piece of music.  Weather it’s musically, lyrically, inspirationally, emotionally, spiritually – “Wonderful You” covers it all.

E.G. Holmes together with David Vanden Enden will affirm your faith in Big Band Pop Music again. Holmes and Vanden Enden are a unique, hard working pop-rock duo that knows their way around a catchy song and a piece of sheet music. Together they represent all that is good in music and their latest CD “Wonderful You” delivers a highly passionate, fully loaded catalog of music via rock solid musicianship, entertaining songs and music that covers all the bases: Big Band, Pop, Jazz and Rock.
