With the March 6 release of SNAPSHOT, Colorado fiddler-singer Katie Glassman offers the fullest picture yet of her singular ability blend to tradition with contemporary color.

A beguiling set of confident originals, SNAPSHOT simultaneously captures the vintage, sepia-toned feel of her childhood experiences with old-time music and fiddling contests, and the fresh sophistication of her jazz studies and year-long sojourn in France. Jazz, swing and bluegrass form SNAPSHOT’s frame; Glassman’s agile, luminous vocals give it texture. And her National Fiddling Champion chops give it doses of dynamite.

“Many of the tunes depict thoughts about time, memories and imagination,” Glassman says, adding with a laugh, “Though you do have your break-up songs — and those of victory as well.”

Glassman is planning several Colorado performances with her band — Eric Moon, accordian and piano; Yaniv Salzberg, guitar and vocals; and Eric Thorin, bass.
