Award-winning singer/songwriter Dierks Bentley will give fans the first taste of his next album with the release of its lead single, “Bourbon In Kentucky,” to radio stations today with an official add date of June 10.“Bourbon In Kentucky” explores the dark internal emotions of loss and disconnection told through an intense vocal performance by Bentley and haunting backing vocalsfrom Kacey Musgraves.  The singers’ emotions are matched sonically with scraping guitar tones and a rhythm section based in tension and mystery. It’s a gripping account of separation and the dramatic steps many take to kill the pain that accompanies it.“I’ve never heard anything like ‘Bourbon’ before,” Bentley says. “I really love the angst of it. I’ve been there before where you can’t drink your way through a heartache or a broken heart. There’s such an aggressive lonesomeness in this song.”For a behind-the-scenes look into the studio for the recording of “Bourbon in Kentucky,” visit RollingStone.com by clicking here.“Bourbon In Kentucky” is the first sample from Bentley’s seventh studio album, RISER, due this fall.  The new album was written and recorded in the aftermath of his father’s death in June 2012 and finds Bentley fiercely exhibiting determined resilience. Framed against that backdrop, “Bourbon” rings with an understandable intensity, though it represents just one facet of RISER’s creative arc.“I don’t want anyone to have any preconceived notions of what the rest of the album’s going to sound like,” Bentley says. “I’d just like this first song out there to kind of shatter any expectations.”Since moving to Nashville, Bentley has forged his own artistic path in an industry built predominantly on formula. He has mixed elements of modern country, classic country, bluegrass and rock, maintaining an unmistakable identity while constantly reinventing his sound. His album Home debuted at No. 1 and spawned three consecutive chart-topping hits, marking 10 career No. 1 songs for Bentley as a singer and songwriter. His five previous studio albums have sold more than five million copies, garnered 11 GRAMMY nominations and earned him an invitation to join the Grand Ole Opry. Bentley is currently out on the road playing sold out arenas and amphitheaters on the Miranda Lambert and Dierks Bentley: Locked & Reloaded Tour through October.
