From Telluride Bluegrass Festival to SxSW and all points beyond – Head for the Hills creates a sound based in bluegrass that reaches into indie rock, jazz, hip hop, world and folk to stitch together fresh songs that bridge the divide between past and future acoustic music.

Head for the Hills had a busy summer with several music festivals, including: Summer Camp Music Festival (Chillicothe, IL), Kinfolk Celebration at Planet Bluegrass (Lyons, CO), a performance with Nickel Creek at the Festival at Sandpoint, (Idaho), Botanic Gardens for a co-bill with Steep Canyon Rangers (Denver, CO) and more.

The quartet recently released their third studio album, Blue Ruin, which has received positive praise. The album has charted in the CMJ Top 200 and the band was featured by CMT – Edge mentioning – ‘Head for the Hills’ Blue Ruin effortlessly matches integrity against innovation’. Renowned artist Timothy Doyle (Muse, The Black Keys, Lucas Films, NASA) created the stunning cover art for ‘Blue Ruin.’ Head for the Hills recently released a single and video for their song "Never Does" from their album Blue Ruin and has had several performances this summer with many more upcoming this Fall.

Head for the Hills has performed and appeared at many premier festivals and radio programs: Telluride Bluegrass Festival, Wakarusa Music Festival, SxSW, Summer Camp Music Festival, NPR-Ideastream, eTown, High Sierra Music Festival, DelFest, RockyGrass and several more. The band was named “Best of Colorado” for 5 consecutive years via Westword Music Awards (Denver, CO) and also co-released a craft beer with one of USA Today’s “Top 15 Craft Beer Breweries” – Odell Brewing Co.
