Just Announced: AUGUSTANA at Fox Theatre 05.04.12

Z2 Entertainment is proud to present Augustana at the Fox Theatre on Friday, May 4th.  Tickets will go on sale to the public on Friday, March 16th for $20.00 in advance and $22.00 day of show.

Augustana's new self-titled album, featuring the first single, "Steal Your Heart," is available now. The band, which is fronted by vocalist/lyricist Daniel Layus, recorded the album in Los Angeles with Grammy Award-winning producer/engineer Jacquire King, who is known for his work with Kings of Leon and Norah Jones, among others.

"The creative and musical progression of this record feels like the most true expression of who this band is in its most basic form," said Layus. "We worked really hard to bring the sound to a new frontier, but not so far that it lost that sense of organic sensibility."

The album delivers on the emotionally resonant, rootsy pop/rock that Augustana have become known for since launching themselves onto the scene with their major-label debut, 2005's All The Stars and Boulevards. The album reached No. 1 on Billboard's Heatseekers chart. It also spawned two Top 40 hits, "Stars and Boulevards" and "Boston," which was certified digital platinum. The band's follow-up, 2008's Can't Love, Can't Hurt spawned the singles "Sweet and Low," and "I Still Ain't Over You."

Augustana hit the road even before ‘All the Stars and Boulevards’ was released, crisscrossing clubs with the Stereophonics before graduating to much larger venues. By the time the band was logging well-received stints opening for Snow Patrol, Dashboard Confessional and Counting Crows, “Boston” was in rotation on radio, the video was getting plays under VH1’s “You Oughta Know” banner, and the band knew it was onto something.

They are currently touring in support of their new self- titled album. Fronted by a charismatic, deeply thoughtful songwriter with a powerfully expressive voice and effortlessly backed by natural musicians. It’s more than a band. It’s organic when it happens. The members get together and they just know. Each realizes he will never be better than he is when he’s playing with these other guys. And so it is with Augustana.
