Karling & The Kadavers | "Curse On Me"

Karling Abbeygate is an enigma. Hearing her voice, one would assume that she hails from Texas or Memphis, based on her perfect twang. But this is not the case. Karling is from Norwich, a small town in the English countryside. Karling’s musical roots are the origin of her drawl. Her father, a military man hailing from Coffeyville Kansas, met her mother while he was based in Norfolk, England. Both were avid old-style country fans & they fed their daughter a constant diet of Jim Reeves, Patsy Cline, Elvis, Johnny Cash, Tammy Wynette & Loretta Lynn from the day she was born.

Karling’s voice has been likened to Wanda Jackson, Patsy Cline, & many other great female singers of a bygone era. This is why Karling is an enigma. It’s as if she stepped right out of the '50s, yet there is a flare of modern day sensibilities that makes us relate to her heartbreaking, knee-slapping music and style.

Karling’s latest release is the result of a recent itch for something darker, crazier & campier than anything she’s done before. If you appreciate the likes of Necromantic, The Hillbilly Moon Explosion, The Silver Shine, HorrorPops (i.e. driving Psychobilly music with a dark quirky theme) then you’ll enjoy this latest EP.
