Lady Antebellum Hits #1 in Record Time!
Earning their fastest charting and seventh career No. one single this week, GRAMMY winning country trio Lady Antebellum’s “Downtown” takes the top position on both the Billboard and Mediabase charts while simultaneously selling more than 500,000 digital downloads. “Downtown” also spent the last two weeks at No. one in Canada and is the lead single off the group’s upcoming fourth studio album GOLDEN, available in stores May 7.
“Most of what the world has seen from Hillary from a radio single standpoint is this very sweet kind of style like ‘American Honey,’” said Lady A’s Charles Kelley. “But, she’s got a lot of sass and a lot of grit to her voice, too, so it’s been really fun to bring that out of her and have this kind of support from our fans and radio.”
“Downtown” hit big out of the gate, becoming the trio’s highest charting debut at Country radio. To watch a behind the scenes video from the making of the playful single, click here.
Fans can also tune in to The Voice on NBC at 8:00P ET tonight, tomorrow night and next Monday (4/22) when Lady A’s Hillary Scott joins Adam Levine as a guest mentor. Scott will help Levine prepare Team Adam contestants for the upcoming battle round.
Since its 2006 inception, Lady A had risen quickly to become Country Music’s most influential current group. The group won the “Vocal Group of the Year” honor from both the CMA and from the ACM’s three times in a row and sold 11 million albums worldwide. Nine of the band’s singles went Gold, with four surpassing the Platinum mark. “Need You Now” went on to sell over seven million downloads and claimed five of the trio’s seven career GRAMMY wins, including the all-genre “Record of the Year” and “Song of the Year.” For more information on new music and upcoming appearances, visit www.ladyantebellum.com.
