Blue Rock Artist Ranch and Studio welcomes singer-songwriter Mindy Smith to its Texas Room stage at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 11, as part of its seventh Blue Rock Studio Concert Series season. Smith will perform in a studio setting before an intimate audience of only 100 people. Offsite fans may share the experience via Blue Rock Live, a pay-per-view webcast in high-definition video and studio-quality audio mixed on Blue Rock’s new Rupert Neve Designs 5088 console. Formatted for large screens, laptops and mobile devices, the real-time concert stream is available for $10. (Stream viewers enjoy occasional artist interviews or other related content during set intermissions.) They join a list of performers such as Mary Gauthier, whose latest album, Live at Blue Rock, has earned critical acclaim and just reached No. 8 on the Alternate Route magazine’s Roots 66 Airplay Chart.Nashville resident Smith, whose “torchy-twang” Americana inspired a USA Today critic to proclaim, “Smith’s best songs sound like little miracles,” has earned similar accolades since first gaining buzz as a Kerrville Folk Festival New Folk Competition finalist. Her version of “Jolene” on the 2003 tribute album, Just Because I’m a Woman: The Songs of Dolly Parton drew praise from Parton herself, and Smith has continued to attract fans since releasing her debut album, One Moment More, on Vanguard Records in 2004. Her self-titled latest album was released in 2012.About Blue Rock LiveBlue Rock Studio’s Blue Rock Live webcasts evolved to accommodate the many Blue Rock Concert Series fans left on long waiting lists for these popular performances, which feature extraordinary artists such as Shawn Colvin, Christopher Cross, Anais Mitchell, Bill Frisell, Jimmy Webb and Chris Smither.
