Preservation Hall Jazz Band was founded in 1961 to promote traditional New Orleans jazz in all its authenticity. Legendary players like Del McCoury Band, Steve Earle, Warren Haynes, The Edge, Charlie Musselwhite, Buddy Miller & Patty Griffin, Robert Plant, Dirty Dozen Brass Band and Tao Seeger, all rooted in the formative jazz years, were its original stars. But with the band’s first 50 years behind them they are now looking forward to the next 50 and will be recording their first album of original music ever, titled That’s It! Which will be released on August 13th. Playing material both new and old at Jazzfest this year, you will not want to miss PHJB’s set on Saturday April 27th at 4:40 pm in the Peoples Health Economy Hall Tent.
