If the world does end on 12/21/12, at least it will go out in a blaze of unadulterated jamband glory. South Florida's roaming sacred steel maestro, Roosevelt Collier of the Lee Boys, just announced that he will join The Heavy Pets' "End of the World Party" Friday, Dec. 21 at the Culture Room in Ft. Lauderdale, FL.

"I'm such a fan of those guys. They're Florida boys, so playing with the Pets is like being with family," Collier said. "No where else I'd want to be that night," he added with a smile. Collier last joined the Heavy Pets for a fiery rendition of "Jackie Bones" (video) at the Bear Creek Music & Art Festival last November, where he attended as a roaming Artist at Large, logging the most sit-ins in the festival's history.

The Miami-bred steel guitar player has built a reputation for his solo guest appearances in between touring with his family gospel band, The Lee Boys. His list of 2012 collaborations read like a who's who of the live music circuit: the Allman Brothers, Gov't Mule, Yonder Mountain String Band, Tab Benoit, Dumpstaphunk, Greensky Bluegrass, the New Mastersounds, ALO, Michael Franti & Spearhead, Galactic, the Dead Kenny G's, Zach Deputy, Tea Leaf Green, Anders Osborne, the Wood Brothers, George Porter Jr. & the Runnin' Pardners, Lettuce, Soulive, North Mississippi Allstars and Perpetual Groove.

The Dec. 21 concert at the Culture Room will kick off with an early set by Greenhouse Lounge, before the Heavy Pets hit the stage around midnight to rage the impending apocalypse late into the night.
