Run for the Roses: A Benefit for the Rex Foundation

The three sets of music each bring their own resonance and tribute to Jerry Garcia, Robert Hunter and the Jerry Garcia Band.  The Mother Hips, celebrating their 20th anniversary as a soulful California rock and roll band, and well known for their extraordinary vocal harmonies, look forward to sharing their renditions of the music, including Tim's inspirations from his recent tour with the Rhythm DevilsJohn, Melvin, Greg, Robin and Sunshine are orchestrating a very special Jerry Garcia Band tribute set.  And, Matt Butler will spice up the finale, adding his Merry Prankster spirit in with The Everyone Orchestra's famed interactive improvisational experience to take the music to new dimensions and back.Set up in festive cabaret style with reserved seating on the floor, The Fillmore, with its beauty and iconic connection to Jerry Garcia and the Grateful Dead, sets the stage for this special occasion.  At the 6:00 - 7:30 pre-concert reception, guests enjoy hearty finger foods and beverages and the opportunity to reconnect with friends and family. The reception/concert tickets of $200, $500, or $1,000, of which all but $75 is a charitable contribution, will fund Rex Foundation grant making.   As a special way to celebrate Jerry Garcia's on-going community legacy, all of the American Beauty $1,000 tickets proceeds will be used to fund the Rex Foundation's annual Jerry Garcia Award designed to honor and support individuals and groups that work to encourage creativity in young people.  All $1,000 contributors will be acknowledged on our website as Award Funders, beginning with the 2011 Jerry Garcia Award.Reception/Concert Tickets available through the Rex Foundation at 415-561-3135 and website event page  and GDTS TOO at www.gdtstoo.com.Doors open at 7:30 for the concert, and the music begins at 8:00 p.m.  Concert only tickets are $50 and available only through Ticketmaster.
