Singer-Songwriter Carolann Ames To Release Latest Album Jan. 17th

Texas-born, California-based singer-songwriter Carolann Ames, about whose sound one writer enthused, “pretty doesn’t do this music justice,” will release on Tuesday, January 17, her latest album, LAUREL CANYON ROAD, which features her strong but tender vocals and her country roots as the artist expands the wide range of Americana.

On songs such as “Everybody’s Somebody in a Honky Tonk,” “Bed of Roses” and “Laurel Canyon Road” — about which AcousticRainbow.com wrote, “We particularly like the harmony vocals and poetic imagery” — Ames reveals herself in the emotive lyrics of her originals and cinches the deal with the voice that has impressed everyone.

“Amazing vocals; gave me shivers,” wrote JohnKoenig.squarespace.com. “All original songs, what’s really expected these days, but also lyrics that peek inside Ames. I enjoy this record; it’s calming yet engaging at the same time. ... Pretty doesn’t do this music justice.”

The praise echoes that of HARP magazine, which called Ames “touched by angels” and her second album, SO LONG ABILENE, “a gift from above”; it was nominated for Best Americana Album and the title track Best Americana Single in the 2009 LA Music Awards. “West Virginia,” from her album SHADES OF INDIGO, won Grand Prize in the 2004 John Lennon Songwriting Contest.

In addition to fiddler Melissa Harley, the members of Ames’ band are Steve Peavey on guitar and vocals and Ken Dow on bass and vocals.
