Today (4/8) THE STRING CHEESE INCIDENT and USAToday.com exclusively premiered a behind the scenes, in-studio performance video for new track “So Far From Home,” from the band’s upcoming album SONG IN MY HEAD out April 29 on SCI Fidelity Records/Loud & Proud Records. Check it out here: http://usat.ly/PLGbeZ. The video explores THE STRING CHEESE INCIDENT’s creative process in the studio working out the song’s elements and captures the energy in the studio between the band and the album’s producer Jerry Harrison of the Talking Heads. The acclaimed independent and innovative band celebrating their 20th anniversary this year has also launched a Twitter campaign (#SongInMyHead) in advance of the release of SONG IN MY HEAD. Band members are sharing the songs in their heads via the band’s Twitter account (@SCI_Official) leading up to the album’s release. So far, the songs in drummer Michael Travis’ head are “Leaves Fall” by Mansions on the Moon and “Ohh Bell” by The Barr Brothers, keyboard & vocalist Kyle Hollingsworth shared "Have a Day/Celebratory" from Polyphonic Spree, while percussionist Jason Hahn can’t get Ojos de Brujo’s "Donde Te Has Metido" out of his head. More songs from the band will be shared and fans are encouraged to share their picks as well using #SongInMyHead.SONG IN MY HEAD is perhaps the band’s tightest and most skillful album yet. After years of feeling more like live players than studio musicians, the band members finally tapped into the skill that two decades worth of performing brings. There’s also an overarching sense of joy and renewed passion throughout. “Stylistically, the album feels like the most modern expression of our music,” drummer Michael Travis says. “We continue to be the newest version of our expanding stylistic interest. This album feels more genuinely us. It’s everything we’ve learned about making an album.”  Check out a promotional video for the album here.THE STRING CHEESE INCIDENT--BILL NERSHI (guitars and vocals), MICHAEL KANG (mandolin, violin, guitar and vocals), KEITH MOSELEY (bass & vocals), MICHAEL TRAVIS (drums and percussion), KYLE HOLLINGSWORTH (keyboards & vocals) and JASON HANN (percussion)--continues their extensive touring schedule with several festival performances confirmed including headlining the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival on Thursday, May 1.
