For Deadheads across the land, this has been a wonderful week to be in Colorado. Tuesday night, Dead and Company kicked off the first of four Denver Area shows to take place in the Centennial State. Originally scheduled as just two performances at Fiddler’s Green in Englewood, the band announced mid-September that they were adding two more shows at the famed Red Rocks Amphitheatre.

In this case, two historic characters, Johnny Cash and Owsley “Bear” Stanley collide with Haight-Ashbury’s famously historic venue, The Carousel, in one of the most historic times in music history, 1968.

Black Opry, the online home for both Black artists and Black fans of country, blues, folk, and Americana music, will bring their Black Opry Revue to Nashville this December. The celebrated outlet, founded by country music journalist and activist Holly G, will bring Tylar Bryant, Joy Clark, Lizzie No, Jett Holden, Roberta Lea, Aaron Vance and special guest Frankie Staton to Nashville's historic venue Exit/In for a one-night-only performance on December 18, 2021.

Sarah Jarosz has announced a series of live performances of the Blue Heron Suite this December. Jarosz composed the song cycle after becoming the recipient of the FreshGrass Composition Commission in 2017 and premiered the piece later that year at the FreshGrass Festival.

Marcus Rezak has announced a special ‘Phunk Your Face’ performance at The Miracle Theater in Inglewood, CA, after Phish at The Forum on Sunday, October 24th, 2021. Presented by PR Productions and Spin Cycles Presents, Rezak will be joined by Ike Willis (Frank Zappa), Shira Elias (Turkuaz), Pete Griffin (Steve Vai), Adrian Tramontano (Kung Fu/Marble Eyes), and Eric Blumenfeld (Kinetix). Universal Peoples will open the night with music starting at 10:30 p.m.

Originally released by Bethlehem Records in 1959, Nina Simone and Her Friends was a compilation album comprising the few remaining unreleased tracks from the 1957 Little Girl Blue recording session plus songs recorded by two other former Bethlehem artists, the powerhouse jazz vocalist Carmen McRae and the elegant song stylist Chris Connor.
