First coming together on a late October evening when Vince Herman wandered into the Walrus Saloon in Boulder, Colorado, after being enticed by a sign reading “Bluegrass Music Here Tonight,” and met Drew Emmitt, whose band was playing that night, the pair have been reshaping the musical landscape ever since.

Colorado-based hydro-funk trio SunSquabi is returning home for a special 3 night Halloween run. With support coming from the likes of Maddy O’Neal, Dynohunter and Nobide the Colorado Halloween run tour stops include a return to the Boulder Theater on Halloween Night 10/31, followed by a stop in Ft. Collins at the Aggie on Nov. 1st with Dynohunter and a debut at the 10 Mile Music Hall on Nov. 2nd in Frisco, CO with Maddy O’Neal. This will be the first performance in their home town of Boulder since February 4th, 2017. 

The Lone Bellow – Zach Williams, Kanene Donehey Pipkin, Brian Elmquist – have announced the release of their long-awaited new album, HALF MOON LIGHT (Dualtone Records, an Entertainment One Company), the band’s fourth studio LP and first one since 2017. Out on Friday, February 7, 2020, HALF MOON LIGHT, produced by Aaron Dessner (The National) at his studio in upstate New York and featuring guitarist Josh Kaufman and drummer J.T.

Cold War Kids have released a video for "Beyond the Pale," a new song from their forthcoming album NEW AGE NORMS, 1. The song, co-written with Mikky Ekko (Rihanna, Clams Casino), is a piano ballad that features lead singer Nathan Willett at his most emotionally bare as he shares the universal tale of a life spent on the road away from his family. The video portrays the frenetic yet fun lifestyle of being in a band on the road while the despair in the lyrics reshape how one sees these images.

The California Roots Music and Arts Festival has had much to celebrate in 2019 with a successful ten year event, launching their own radio show “Cali Roots Radio” on SiriusXM’s “The Joint,” and through a new strategic partnership with Reggae Rise Up. Cali Roots is thrilled to announce its first round of artists for their 11th annual festival held at the Monterey County Fair and Event Center from May 22-24, 2020. The Chapel in San Francisco has announced the first round of special guests for its 50th anniversary celebration of the legendary Grateful Dead albums Aoxomoxoa and Live Dead on October 28 and 29. For the complete album performance of Aoxomoxoa on Monday, October 28, musicians Brigid Dawson (Thee Oh Sees), Paula Frazer (Tarnation) and Greg Loiacono (Mother Hips/ Green Leaf Rustlers) will join the bill.

An upstanding "musical eulogy" to the recently departed Pigpen, the Grateful Dead conducted a potent study in contrasts on this bittersweet night. They found easy balance between tidy jams like "They Love Each Other," "Wave That Flag," "Playing In The Band," and introspective moments on "Stella Blue," "Sing Me Back Home," and a poignant "He's Gone." It was all laid down with a discipline and a polish unheard of in any of the truly exceptional shows that had come before it. Yes, you might say, they cleaned up nice to carry on the legacy as Pig would have wanted.
