This year’s Shout & Shine: A Celebration of Diversity in Bluegrass will honor the connection and cross-pollination between blues, bluegrass, and their offshoots and will take place on Monday, Sept. 24, at 6 p.m. at the North Carolina Museum of History Daniels Auditorium, at the very beginning of IBMA’s World of Bluegrass events in Raleigh. Presented by BGS and PineCone, Shout & Shine is the first event of its kind at the weeklong bluegrass business conference and festival.

John Prine won “Artist of the Year” at last night’s Americana Music Honors & Awards. This is Prine’s third time receiving the prestigious award following previous wins in 2017 and 2005.  

Blue Élan Records is proud to announce the signing of southern rock band, THE VEGABONDS.  Their new album, V, symbolizing their fifth release, is set for release in January 2019. The band will celebrate their new album at the Blue Élan AmericanaFest showcase in Nashville on September 14th at The Filming Station.  
 

This review is going to read more like a sci-fi story. Do not adjust your grammatical eyes or correct the run-on sentences.  You are entering my Shoe Fest Vision. For only 72 hours, gates opened at 10 am on Friday and closed down at 10 am on Monday Labor Day.  Once crossed into Shoe Fest 2018 at Camp Shaw-waw-nas-see (affectionately known as Camp Shaw) in Manteno IL, you were greeted with unexpected twists and left with a good moral learned.  A fest like this is filled with instant karma.

Austinites and travelers around the world came to Carson Creek Ranch on September 7th through September 9th, to see some of the best jambands from around the world. Although the Waterloo Festival saw some rain this weekend, it didn’t stop anyone from dancing to their favorite musicians in the mud! Concertgoers were all different ages, from families, young adults, middle-aged people, and older generations combined. The diverse combination of festival-goers was refreshing and felt like a community affair.

The soulful powerhouse ensemble known throughout the Northeast as West End Blend has shared fall 2018 tour details. "This tour stands to be one of our most exciting tours to date," shares Sam Horan, the band's drummer. "We’re visiting some brand new cities and we look forward to expanding that WEB family!"

The multi-talented, Austin based artist David Messier is set to release his sophomore album this fall.

To ring in 2019 proper on December 31st, the band will once again take over Buffalo's Town Ballroom with Lespecial joining as support on the bill. Last year's NYE bash at Town Ballroom sold out, so fans are encouraged to procure their tickets early.

On August 11th, Victor Wooten Trio came back once again full force to Cervantes Masterpiece Ballroom with Roosevelt Collier to amaze their audience once again. As many of you probably know, Victor Wooten holds a reputation as one of the best bassists in the world. By his side, outstanding drummer Dennis Chambers, & powerful saxophonist Bob Franceshini, made for an excellent show.
