Yonder Mountain String Band is very pleased to announce their Spring Tour 2012 dates! From late March through April we'll be playing shows in the Midwest, the Deep South, then out to California for a string of West Coast dates. Yonder Mountain String Band has always played music by its own set of rules.  Bending bluegrass, rock and countless other influences that the band cites, Yonder has pioneered a sound of their own.  With their traditional lineup of  instruments, the band may look like a traditional bluegrass band at first glance but they’ve created their own music that transcends any genre.  Dave Johnston points out “What could be more pure than making your own music.”

For Colorado's Yonder Mountain String Band, the new year is full of possibilities. The band has a rigorous winter and spring tour underway, and will be hosting their 10th annual Northwest String Summit this summer in Oregon.

Wednesdays in a college town are usually nothing to get excited over. Crowds are sparse, bars are mellow and you never have to wait too long for a drink. Townies have to work in the morning. Students have books to read and studying to do so that most of the work can be out of the way when the unofficial start of the weekend, Thursday night, rolls around.

Thanks for waiting to read about the best part of Wakarusa! The best three shows of the festival lay here in the second half of the review. In this section, I want to tell you which bands earned my top three ribbons of the festival.  Please keep in mind that I could not possibly see all of the bands that played, although I did try to see most.
