FRIDAY

Jam in The Trees is honored to be nominated for an International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) Momentum Award in the Festival/Event/Venue category for 2017! What great news to find out shortly before The 2nd Annual Jam In The Trees, a two day, Americana music-themed event that takes place at Pisgah Brewing in Black Mountain, NC on both the beautiful Outdoor Stage and the more intimate Indoor Taproom Stage Friday and Saturday, August 25 and 26, 2017.

It hit me quickly after I had arrived at Jerry Jam 2017. It was the kind of revelation that, once discovered, seems obvious. But when it hit me, it felt earth-shattering. Not to mention fear-inducing. I looked down at the note I had just written. “I’m not going to have a lot to write about.” This came to me when I was watching The John K. band Friday afternoon.

In its 10th incarnation the Petaluma Music Festival once again brought together a fine synthesis of bohemian bands including the Chris Robinson Brotherhood, Poor Man’s Whiskey, the T Sisters, and Midnight North and their collective aficionados to the Sonoma-Marin Fairgrounds in Petaluma, California, all to benefit the Keeping Music in the Schools effort, specifically for music programs in Petaluma schools.

The little festival that could, Rhythms on the Rio 2017, did it once again, bringing a stellar lineup and unmatched Colorado hospitality to a welcoming festival audience. This year’s fest started out overcast and chilly (we are in monsoon season, after all), with the promise of rain. But none of that dampened anyone’s spirits.
