Sahara Smith Plays Austin City Limits on 10/8

T Bone Burnett went on record to say 22-year-old "Sahara [Smith] is the best young artist I have heard in many years." Of her last show in Hollywood, the LA Times raved, "her voice hits angelic highs reminiscent of Alison Krauss and Emmylou Harris."

Her debut 'Myth of the Heart,' overseen by T Bone Burnett and producer Emile Kelman, features many of Burnett's first-call session players, including guitarist Marc Ribot, drummer Jay Bellerose, and bassist Dennis Crouch. It's earned a mass of rave reviews (see below) and available now via Playing in Traffic Records.

THE BAND OF HEATHENS at Austin City Limits

The guys in the Band of Heathens are fond of saying they became a unit by accident. But that’s like saying the Big Bang was an accident. Unplanned, maybe, but hardly random. One might even argue that a kind of destiny was involved.

I have to admit, when I heard several months ago that the Mile High Music Festival would be recycling headliners, and only a few years into its tenure on the festival scene, I rolled my eyes and considered skipping the whole thing this year.  I mean, Dave Matthews is only one of thousands of musicians suitable for headlining a festival with
