Formed in 2010 after a chance encounter at the Oregon Country Fair, singer/songwriter Brandelyn Rose and guitar prodigy Felix Blades sparked a unique and collaborative friendship that has attracted other talented artists including Ben Bosse on bass, special guest Eric Luba on keyboards and Alex Huber on drums. The band recently completed a six month recording process to complete their latest album.

"Across the Canyon" is a beautifully unique musical journey. The band’s fifth album recorded at Ninkasi Studios in Eugene OR, is a collaborative experiment that weaves elements of progressive rock, jazz and Improvisational rock and roll with hints of 60's psychedelia. Blue Lotus' album can be described as uplifting, creative and lyrically inspirational leaving the listener wanting more.

Comprised of eight tracks, the entire album plays for almost an hour and includes five studio and three live tracks recorded during multiple recent performances. Both live and studio tracks capture the extended jams that Blue Lotus has become known for. Lyrically the songs evoke past, present and future memories and have an overall hopeful and inspirational quality. The song selection takes the listener on a an exploration from joyful and uplifted, through a western ballad, to 70’s style disco and back again.

Across the Canyon is a unique showcase of style as each band member provides a distinct musical contribution to the album's overall sound. The songs themselves are only a framework that allow each band member  to provide their own instrumental inspiration moment by moment on the album; much like their live performances. Their fifth release, the band feels overwhelming like this CD captures the authentic Blue Lotus sound better than any of their previous albums.
