Award-winning mandolinist and music producer David Grisman announced today the HD release of First Time Together! featuring Martin Taylor (guitar), Frank Vignola (guitar), Samson Grisman (bass) and of course, the Dawg himself on mandolin. In one day-long session, this brand new quartet recorded a dozen tunes. The repertoire spans the Great American Songbook with showtunes like "Surrey With The Fringe On Top," standards like "Avalon" and "Poinciana," as well as originals by Taylor, ("Serafina,") Dawg ("Swang Thang") and Lennon-McCartney ("Michelle.")

This marks the first time these music tycoons have recorded together. Taylor, Vignola and the Dawg share equal billing in conveying the melodies of these American classics known for his solo techniques while bassist Samson Grisman tastefully provides firm and artful foundations. The playing is relaxed and natural, with all four of the musicians producing stellar sounds. The HD recording is a sonic delight for fans of jazzgrass and acoustic music.

This unique collection of tunes is available for download now at AcousticOasis.com, Grisman’s digital distribution arm of his Acoustic Disc label, which he founded in 1990.

“I’ve known both Martin and Frank for decades and have performed and recorded with them, but never together. Last December I received emails from both of them on the same day, almost simultaneously, saying that they both would be in my neck of the woods during the precisely the same time, and suggesting we get get together. So in this serendipitous fashion our First Time Together was born!” Grisman said.
