Guitar Mash Benefit on November 8

The Fourth Annual Guitar Mash Benefit Jam, scheduled for Sunday, November 8 from noon until 3:30pm at NYC's City Winery, is proud to announce our full lineup of performers and song repertoire.

Bluegrass master musician Jerry Douglas of The Earls of Leicester and Alison Krauss and Union Station, South African bassist and long-time Paul Simon collaborator Bakithi Kumalo, and internationally acclaimed singer-songwriter Sonya Kitchell will join Jackie GreeneBinky Griptite,Bill Kirchen and Brandon "Taz" Niederauer for a full afternoon of participatory performance led by musical mastermind Mark Stewart and hosted by WNYC's John Schaefer. Founded by Rebecca Weller (former producer of Midsummer Night Swing at Lincoln Center), Guitar Mash is a non­profit organization that creates opportunities for guitarists and music lovers to connect and create, while supporting music education and communal learning projects.  Guitar Mash's participatory Artist Co-Chairs are chef Tom Colicchio (of Top Chef) and Chad Smith (drummer for Red Hot Chili Peppers).

All attending audience members are encouraged to bring their own guitars and play along with the stars for a set list that will feature Jerry Douglas leading Wabash Cannonball and Lead Belly's On A Monday, Binky Griptite on (Sittin' On) The Dock of the Bay and Wish You Were Here, and Jackie Greene performing The Grateful Dead's Sugaree.  For the rest of your life, you'll be able to brag that you played Hot Rod Lincoln with Bill Kirchen, Call Me Al with Bakithi Kumalo and Back in Black with prodigy Brandon Niederauer.
