Remove Rebekah Mercer from the AMNH Board

The Mercer Family Foundation has sunk millions of dollars into Breitbart, climate-denying politicians, and a host of climate denial organizations.

But the head of the foundation, Rebekah Mercer, sits on the board of one of our nation’s largest and most respected natural history museums -- the American Museum of Natural History.

Friends of the Earth is joining a broad coalition of groups to kick Rebekah Mercer off the board of this museum -- but we need your help!

Tell the American Museum of Natural History: It’s time to get science deniers out of science museums -- remove Rebekah Mercer from your board!

The Mercer Family Foundation funds organizations like the Heartland Institute, CO2 Coalition, and the Center for the Study of Carbon Dioxide. These groups hold extreme anti-science views -- including the claim that carbon emissions are good for people and the planet.

The science is clear: We need to act fast to prevent the worst impacts of climate change. But the Mercer-funded network says the opposite.

Climate deniers don’t belong in leadership positions at science institutions. The American Museum of Natural History should cut ties with science deniers now.

With Donald Trump in the White House, science and scientists are under constant attack. We need our trusted institutions of science now more than ever. The AMNH's ties to donor and trustee Rebekah Mercer risk undermining the museum's credibility and eroding the public trust. That is too high a price to pay.

Nearly two years ago, Friends of the Earth members like you helped kick David Koch off the board of this museum. Now it's time to do the same with Mercer.

Take action now: Say NO to anti-science extremists on the board of the American Museum of Natural History!
