Exalt elevates expectations of personal success for youth ages 15-19 who’ve been involved in the criminal justice system. Their mission statement is, “We inspire youth at a critical crossroads to believe in their worth, from the first steps in contemplation through the journey to create lasting behavioral change. Our powerful combination of structured classes for tangible skill development, individualized support to navigate the education and justice systems, placement in paid internships and an alumni network of resources equips youth with the tools and experience to avoid further criminal justice system involvement. At exalt, we empower youth to see a future filled with hope – and we provide the road map to get there.”

Sound Mind Collective is an organization based in Brooklyn, NY founded in the Spring of 2017 by Katherine Powell (manager, The Nth Power), Chris St. Hilaire (musician, The London Souls) and Nikhil P. Yerawadekar (musician, Antibalas). They state, “Our aim is to connect independent musicians and artists with our local communities in order to encourage meaningful positive growth in education, social justice, and creation.”

Sound Mind Collective is also focused on providing resources for independent musicians and creators in areas of basic business management, with the greater intention of strengthening the music community in ways that are more socially conscious and self-sustaining in the face of an increasingly corporate music industry.

“Our goals rely on the development of a community,” says Nikhil, “So whether you are a Brooklyn musician, a music lover, an activist or someone simply looking to get more involved in music culture, we'd love to be in contact with you to see how we could work together and to keep you informed of upcoming events-- feel free to drop us a line at thesoundmindcollective@gmail.com.
