Acclaimed vocalist and guitarist, Charlie Sizemore has been recognized by Big Sandy Community and Technical College in Prestonsburg, Kentucky as a Distinguished Alumni of the Year for 2012.

Hailed as one of the most innovative and respected musicians in his field for over 40 years, banjo master Tony Trischka has been awarded a $50,000 USA Fellowship grant from United States Artists.  Every year, United States Artists invites leaders in nearly every artistic discipline to submit names of artists they believe show extraordinary talent and commitment to their craft.
 

For the past few years, one of the best-kept secrets of the Bay Area music scene was a David Grisman Bluegrass Experience show. With lines stretching for blocks, it would be standing room only to hear this amazing band. Now at last, everyone can hear David Grisman and his stellar group of Bay Area bluegrass musicians on DGBX - The David Grisman Bluegrass Experience.

Fresh off their Colorado Front Range Tour, Eric Lambert & Friends will make a short stop at home in Chicago before packing up again and heading east to Asheville, NC to play their final shows of 2012. ELF debuts at the Emerald Lounge on Friday, December 28 with support from Dana & Susan Robinson, and Dark Water Rising.
 

Today The Infamous Stringdusters announce their 2013 Ski Tour – a run of shows that brings the band, and their fans, to the Rocky Mountains’ best U.S. ski towns this winter. The itinerary - which includes stops in Vail, Colorado, Park City, Utah, and Jackson, Wyoming, among others - promises a few days off to hit the slopes.

Guitar-master, educator, and songwriter Eric Lambert returns to Colorado for the first time since performing at the 2011 Rockygrass festival. He has been on the move since then, and this time, he is bringing his own brand of original Acoustic-Americana dance music to the Front Range. Accompanied by a talented casts of musicians, Eric Lambert & Friends will be traveling up and down Colorado’s Front Range, from Nov. 24 – Dec.

Cornmeal is happy to announce a very special guest for their Annual Hometown Thanksgiving show on 11/23 at The Vic Theatre.  Joining the band for the Chicago festivities will be none other than Jeff Austin of Yonder Mountain String Band.  Following the tradition made in years past, the band will also be hosting a charity food drive (details below).

The Michigan based bluegrass band DETOUR is donating proceeds from the sales of its song "Homeless Of The Brave" to Goodwill’s Patriot Place project. Patriot Place is a transitional housing community for Northern Michigan’s homeless veterans.

Two of bluegrass music’s most entertaining and well loved performers, Sam Bush and Del McCoury will be teaming up for a highly anticipated string of tour dates beginning in November.  To quote Sam, “I first saw Del at the Roanoke Bluegrass Festival in 1966 and have been waiting for this opportunity to tour together ever since.  We invite you to come join the fun as two old friends make music and swap stories onstage.”
