Isaac Newton once said, “If I have been able to see further, it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.”  The exciting new album and resulting tour of Reed Mathis and 'Electric Beethoven' is just that, going further standing on the shoulders of giants.  The album is filled with classical allusions and improvisational rockets that launch off into another world.  Mathis took a concept that he has been chewing on for quite some time and put the pieces together into a masterpiece.

On a fine day in September, Grateful Web’s Michelle Miesse sat down with Elephant Revival's Bridget Law to discuss her inspirations, what it feels like to play alongside a symphony and some of the best things she’s learned recently. An inspiration in the folk and fiddle worlds, Law seems naturally drawn to humanitarianism and music.

GW: So where are you today?

Grateful Web recently had an opportunity to speak with the multifarious Jeremy Garrett. The gifted multi-instrumentalist is best known as fiddler, singer, and co-songwriter of acclaimed progressive grass quintet the Infamous Stringdusters. On September 27^th, Jeremy will release his anticipated newest solo release. The R.V. Sessions Volume 2 features Garrett slinging multiple acoustic instruments recorded in his R.V home studio.

During the hot, humid days at Homegrown Music Festival along the Mulberry River in Arkansas, Grateful Web got the extreme pleasure of chilling out on the river for an interview with banjo duo The Lowest Pair. Palmer Lee recited a poem, Kendl Winter spoke about her creativity style, and we discussed their inspirations and collaboration styles.

On Wednesday, August 17^th, at The Fillmore in San Francisco, The Rex Foundation and SF Giants starting pitcher’s Jake Peavy Foundation will co-host a charitable event that has been dubbed “Can’t Stop The Train,” a Tribute to the music of Jerry Garcia.

Grateful Web caught up with Dave Johnston of Yonder Mountain String Band just in time to talk about 2016 so far and the upcoming Red Rocks show on August 20th, 2016.  They will headline with Preservation Hall Jazz Band and the Drive-By Truckers in support.  

GW: So you are in the studio today, that is very cool.  Can you tell me more about that?

On his 6^th studio release, Por Favor¸ Northern California-native Brett Dennen makes a point to strip away any semblance of polished artistry for a more raw, less calculated expression of his own human nature.

With the release of their latest album, A Riddle for You, The DuPont Brothers shine a light on personal growth – theirs, yours, a community’s. With a grander sound than their last release, an acoustic album, the duo presents bigger ideas and shows growth lyrically and musically. With the help of producer Michael Chorney and a handful of guest musicians, A Riddle for You accomplishes the great feat of bringing the listener closer to discovering their own purpose and vision.

Fort Collins based Hog Magundy recently released their debut album and Grateful Web sat down to talk about the album, some of their favorite festivals and their recent additon to the Nimbleslick Entertainment Agency.
