Sam Bush’s legacy is the genre-bending 'Newgrass' style that fused bluegrass, folk, and country with rock ‘n’ roll, reggae, and jazz. His music shattered any notions of purism, since bluegrass was a stylistic melting pot to begin with. Twenty-Seven years after the amicable breakup of the iconic New Grass Revival, the champion string-slinger continues to bring together yearly reunions at the Telluride Bluegrass Festival and MerleFest, and tours relentlessly with his prolific Sam Bush Band.

Greener Grounds has been busy on the festival circuit, heavy touring, a new album “Momentous” as well as an even more touring supporting your new album. Grateful Web had a chance to speak to Greener Grounds' bassist Jay Reiderm, drummer AJ Gillman, and guitarist Joe Shur leading up to their “Momentous” album release party at Cervantes Other Side on July 8th .

Grateful Web caught up with Royal Jelly Jive’s Lauren Bjelde & Jesse Lemme Adams while they were on a remote chili pepper farm in Oregon. It’s been forty years since the release of New Orleans pianist James Booker’s explosive live album, Blues and Ragtime From New Orleans. Once referred to by Dr. John as “the best black, gay, one-eyed junkie piano genius that New Orleans has ever produced,” Booker’s life was beyond fascinating and like many artists wasn’t fully realized until long after his death. A New Orleans native, Booker was born in 1939 and died at the tragically young age of forty-four. Still, New Orleans remembers him well and fondly.
