On April 10, 2024, the YouTube Theater witnessed a captivating departure from Godsmack's usual high-octane shows. This concert, part of their Vibez Tour, traded the mosh pits for a more intimate and introspective atmosphere, offering a unique experience for their fans. No one really knew what to expect from a show billed as an intimate night with the band.

Melvin Seals brought his talented band to the iconic Capitol Theatre on April 5, 2024 for two fiery sets of classic Jerry Garcia Band covers, and more. They were joined by saxophonist Ron Holloway. Psychedelic rockers One Eyed Jack provided their support.

The Infamous Stringdusters should be way more famous.

Not to say they haven’t earned numerous accolades, including a Grammy win for Best Bluegrass Album in 2018. The quintet also tops the bill at many string-based festivals. While perhaps not yet a “household name” in the bluegrass pantheon, the Stringdusters may be the worst-kept secret in the genre.

The Disco Biscuits released their much anticipated ninth album Revolution in Motion to a sold out crowd at New York City's Webster Hall on March 29, 2024. This was not just any album, but rather a techno "Space Opera," where the Disco Biscuit band members are a subset of the characters.

Pulling up to the Lobero Theatre on a tranquil Monday evening, March 25, the scene was set for a night far from ordinary. Lyle Lovett's scheduled acoustic performance was underscored by the presence of two large tour buses and a colossal semi-truck, hinting at the grandeur that awaited inside the modest 600-seat venue. The "acoustic" label scarcely did justice to the evening's arrangement, with a host of entertainers enhancing the festivities.

Jerry Garcia's impact on bluegrass music will be on full display for the next two years at the Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame in Owensboro, Kentucky. The exhibit, called Jerry Garcia: A Bluegrass Journey, opened on March 28, 2024, with a historic weekend of music, panel discussions, documentary screenings, and other festivities honoring the late Garcia's career.

There is a legion of Sleater-Kinney fans who were big fans of the Olympia, WA, riot grrrl trio long before founding member Carrie Brownstein turned her attention to acting and starred with SNL alum Fred Armisen in the offbeat television sketch comedy show “Portlandia.” (Sleater-Kinney was in the middle of a six-year hiatus at the time.)

“Sounds weird and it’s probably not my thing,” was my initial retort when told one of the narrators in Remarkably Bright Creatures is an octopus. Well, it is a little strange, but I was so wrong about this beautifully crafted novel not being my type of book. Thank goodness I didn’t listen to my inner voice and purchased Shelby Van Pelt’s debut page-turner.

The Disco Biscuits extended their nationwide Why We Dance tour with a performance at the historic F.M. Kirby Center for the Performing Arts in Wilkes-Barre, PA, on Thursday night.
