DeVotchKa’s Vampires vs. Zombies Pre-Halloween Bash

Nothing says Halloween better than vampires.  Except for Zombies maybe.  Never mind the fact that it wasn’t actually Halloween, it was Saturday night, and that’s close enough for those of us with jobs that keep us from partying it up on a Monday night.  Devotchka’s annual Halloween show always draws a crowd of the costumed and enthused, and last Saturday was no exception.  Add to the fact that Boulderites love a costume party more than most people with a killer (or undead?) theme like Vampires vs.

Crytal Castles @ Boulder Theater | New Years Eve

Formed in 2003 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, Crystal Castles consists of producer Ethan Kath and vocalist Alice Glass. They are named after the lyrics "The fate of the world is safe in Crystal Castles" and "Crystal Castles, the source of all power" both from the theme song for She-Ra's fortress. They are known for their melancholic lo-fi sound and their explosive live shows. Their debut album was included in NME's "Top 50 Albums of the Decade".

The Last Waltz Revisited ft: Polytoxic @ Boulder Theater

Back in 2005, Denver's, Polytoxic, wanted to put on a show that could showcase all the great local musicians they had been playing with for the past few years.  They decided to re-enact The Band's "The Last Waltz", a concert film by Martin Scorsese from 1978 of The Band's last performance that included all of that era's greatest musicians - Eric Clapton, Dr John, Neil Young, Joni Mitchell, etc.  The show was held at Dulcinea's in Denver's Capitol Hill area on May 25, 2005, and Polytoxic planned on it being a fun little show that wo
