Circles Around The Sun

The Los Angeles, CA-based quartet Circles Around The Sun delivered a high-energy performance of original tunes rooted in jazz-funk, soul, and fusion at the Brooklyn Bowl in New York, NY on Saturday, March 2, 2024. So good, in fact, that the venue owner got on stage to rally for a second encore. Mikaela Davis and Southern Star were on hand to provide support.

June 9th, 2023, Circles Around The Sun headed to the Rockies to kick off their triple header Colorado tour at the one and only Cervantes’ Masterpiece Ballroom in Denver. CATS name shined as bright as a disco ball across the giant marquee sign. This special show not only included two incredible sets, but an additional late-night set that was out of this galaxy.

The Junction in Mill Valley is pleased to present Los Angeles-based instrumental supergroup Circles Around the Sun who is set to play the venue’s first outdoor concert of the summer on Wednesday, June 28. The band was initially formed with the purpose of creating music for “Fare Thee Well,” a series of reunion concerts played by the surviving members of the Grateful Dead.

Psychedelic-jam-rock-experimental group Circles Around The Sun have officially released their new single, "Third Sunrise Over Gliese 667," via Megaforce Records. This is the second track to be shared off of their forthcoming album, Language, due out April 28th.

Record producer and electric bassist Dan Horne returns to his Lone Palm a.k.a. Liberty Hair Farm studio in Echo Park, Los Angeles for his debut full-length studio album, Count The Clouds, due out on April 7, 2023. Recorded in 2020 - 2021 before his touring schedule kicked back into high gear with Circles Around the Sun and Grateful Shred, Horne unveils Count The Clouds featuring eight original songs with the multi-instrumentalist vibin' out on all the guitars, drums, pedal steel, and keys.

The group – comprised of Adam MacDougall (keyboards & synths), Dan Horne (bass), Mark Levy (drums) and John Lee Shannon (guitar) – has released a new single alongside the announcement of the album. The third day of the fourth Skull and Roses Festival saw the biggest crowds ever and record warm temperatures. A strong onshore wind helped mediate temperatures. When the Alligators rotated onstage just after 4 pm, the fairgrounds were packed with music fans. The band was actually created initially as a one-off to perform at the festival. According to promoter Dennis McNally, “The Gators came into being because Chris, the promoter of Skull and Roses, had a problem—and a vision.
