Tickets are on sale now for the third annual Pink Moon Festival.  Growing upon the success of the previous festivals, organizer Seth Abramson and crew have scheduled an amazing lineup of musicians, artisans and activities for music and art lovers of all genres.

Is there a festival with a cooler name than Gathering of the Vibes? Immediately all festivals with the word festival or fest are eliminated from the name competition- I hope I don’t have to tell you why. Bonnaroo? Pretty cool, but the words not even in the lexicon of those pretentious wordies who use the word lexicon often. No, all festivals should aspire to be a gathering.

By all accounts, Gathering of the Vibes 2007 was a huge success on every level. The four-day festival, August 9-12, brought together musical artists, staff and an estimated 20,000 attendees from all across the nation to celebrate music, camping and camaraderie, and all agreed that the Vibes return to Bridgeport, CT, was triumphant.

Donna Jean Thatcher (Godchaux MacKay) was born to sing, and over the course of time she's done so with people like Elvis Presley, Percy Sledge, Boz Scaggs, and Jerry Garcia. Now she has a new band that she's quite certain is on a creative par with anything she's ever done. "This band is a perfect fit for me as a singer/songwriter," she said recently, "and I hope to be doing this for a long time to come.

In jam rock, the line between imitation and evolution can be woefully blurry.  Often, the farther the bands and the scene get from the Grateful Dead seed, the harder the listener has to work in order to derive an original experience from the music.

Driving drums, noodling bass, swirling guitars and thin vocals rushing through stoner lyrics - we've all been there.  And by and large, we like it there.  Comfort candy for the ears.

But back at the source, something old is new again.  Welcome to the Swamp.
