Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros

Featuring contributions from Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros along with nine up-and-coming U.S. bands across diverse genres, BEATLES REIMAGINED commemorates the 50th anniversary of the recording and release of Beatles tracks from 1963-4, including “From Me To You,” “She Loves You” and “I Saw Her Standing There” which cemented the band’s status as rock and roll royalty.

Big things are on the way for Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, who released their self-titled, third album last week. While Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros was originally set to debut last year, the reason for the delay is clear—and worth it. The band has hardly taken a breath since hitting the road to support their sophomore album Here.

After a much needed “golden slumber”, I started Saturday off in the best way possible… with a hot shower.  Even though we were seriously rationing the water and it was the quickest shower I’ve taken in my life… it felt absolutely wonderful to rid myself of the Bonnaroo grime and emerge from the RV so fresh and so clean.  Oh the little things!  As everyone around our camp began to surface and prepare for Day 3, my parents decided to brave the hoards of Bonnaroovians and head into town to fill up on gas for the gener

BottleRock held its inaugural festival last weekend at Napa Valley’s Expo Fairgrounds under a scorching sun, but the heat wasn’t enough to keep the crowds away. This year seems to have introduced more new music festivals than ever. In a sea of established fests and emerging talent, it’s hard to stand out from the crowd. BottleRock Napa, however, seems to have it all figured out. (Wine Enthusiast Magazine has already named it one of the top five music and wine festivals in the nation!)

When I entered the staggering Greek Theatre at UC Berkeley on Friday night, I was instantly impressed by the crowd. For an Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros concert, I was expecting bare feet, hoop skirts, and flower children.

Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros struck gold with their hit “Home” from their debut album Up From Below. You couldn’t turn the TV on or walk down the street without hearing the familiar melody being whistled.

My day began a bit late on Friday. I would like to say it’s because I found a basket of kittens and was completely distracted...or that I was showering or something like that. But no...I got a late start because the moment I got to Wakarusa on Thursday...I lost my keys. I had to ride back to Fayetteville, whip up yesterday’s review and head back to Mulberry Mountain. But it’s never a bad thing to have to make that beautiful drive one more time.
