Martin Sexton

Just yesterday beloved singer-songwriter Martin Sexton released his new EP 2020 Vision, available everywhere through Kitchen Table Records. His first new release in six years, the 4-song collection snapshots moments of clarity during the past year and beyond. Stream or purchase 2020 Vision HERE.

Renowned singer-songwriter Martin Sexton shared his new single "Calling On America." Arriving just ahead of Independence Day weekend, "Calling On America" follows in the grand tradition of tender R&B cultural commentary epitomized by soul poets like Curtis Mayfield and Marvin Gaye. Featuring a guest appearance from longtime friend and supporter John Mayer on guitar, it's a scene-setting song panning through visual vignettes of love and harmony while also contemplating division.

Picture it: The most beautiful outdoor festival grounds at Planet Bluegrass in stunning Lyons, Colorado. Three days full of world-class musicians from around the globe. 5,000 of your new best friends. For music lovers, this is a dream come true.

The epic music extravaganza this past weekend was beyond stellar. I loved all the music, and the following were my favorites:

Six Chair Productions announced the addition of Trampled by Turtles, Martin Sexton, Joseph, and The Ghost of Paul Revere to the lineup for the third annual Festival at the Farm, presented by Pete and Gerry’s Organic Eggs at Prowse Farm in Canton, MA  September 15-16, 2018.

I’m searching for phrases to describe Phases of the Moon Music & Art Festival.  It began as a dark side of the moon, but that was just a phase.  As an audience, our hackles were already up, howling at the moon before the weekend ever arrived.  Through no fault of the Phases organizers, RatDog had to cancel their appearance.  Bobby Weir’s lightening is lazy.

Musicians have always had the perfect platform for speaking to the masses, and are perhaps the most strategically positioned for getting messages out to mankind. Singer/songwriter Martin Sexton is a tremendously talented performer and also one of the most conscious individuals on the music scene. Sexton spoke with us about the songs his new EP, the awakening of the American people, and the power of unity.

Six weeks ago I read about the Life Is Good Festival, that took place this past weekend in Canton, MA, and the two of me that are this Gemini started to have it out as they always do. Corporate sponsorship for a festival? Yes, but the corporation started out as a grass roots effort that is trying to give back now that they’ve made it. No late nights? That’s not whom this festival is geared to please; its family oriented, with an emphasis on kids that no festival I have ever considered going to has had.

eTown presented another amazing show at the Boulder Theater on Valentine’s day, saving me from the alternative, a romantic home cooked meal (aka cabbage and salmon quiche- my boyfriends favorite) Relieved and excited, I rolled into the theater around 7 and could hear Martin Sexton warming the crowed up already.

The heat resumed, but it felt so much worse after two days of partying and little sleep. I was appreciative of one thing on this sweltering morning wake-up; the showers had short lines for men, and they were only seven dollars. Therefore, although I really wanted to catch Baaba Maal’s set, I felt more rejuvenated going into the press conference with a fresh shower, breakfast, and an iced coffee. I was ready for a new day at my favorite festival.
