It’s big news for fans, for sure… Railroad Earth, who have had a brilliant 2015, bounding off a successful run with Warren Haynes collab, Ashes and Dust, (along with tour dates), Palladia’s premiere of RRE’s 2014 Red Rocks show, 2015’s Red Rocks return, and oh, so much more, are happy to announce another colossal tour agenda for Winter 2016.

Railroad Earth will be returning to the Sherman Theatre in Stroudsburg, PA for their annual two-night run 11/27-28. The shows are not only a homecoming for the band but a favorite destination for fans over the Thanksgiving weekend, with late night shows featuring local artists in other venues adding to the fun.

After having the greatest musical experience of my life for three shows in Chicago at the Dead’s last shows together less than a week before, I did not think it was so possible for that music high to continue, but the lineup and energy of the 2015 All Good Music Festival kept my music fix alive and well. Rolling deep with one of the best crews I have had in a while and an RV led to three days of uninterrupted music from one stage to another.

The following artists have been added to the lineup for the 5th Annual Hangtown Halloween Ball Featuring Railroad Earth:

Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue
The Travelin' McCourys
Break Science
Joe Craven and The Sometimers
The Z3 Funky Takes on Frank [Zappa]
Tracorum
World's Finest
Tubaluba
Ideateam
The Kitchen Dwellers
Mind X
Joe Craven (festival emcee)

It’s been a milestone year for Railroad Earth, so much so that we’re going to be hard pressed to fit everything in one tight release, but we’re going to try...

This Independence Day weekend, I call upon you all, to celebrate. In recognition of all things we hold dear, take time to cherish. Cherish your loved ones, cherish yourself. This Independence Day, recognize that on whatever whim we may exist, we are here with each other and without that, well, things would be much less interesting. Celebrate your freedom to express yourself through whatever means possible. If only a moment in a hectic day, make that moment yours.

What a magical weekend it was indeed at the Dark Star Jubilee. Each year is just as good as the last if not better. I had the honor of attending this festival for the fourth year in a row out at Legend Valley, Ohio over Memorial Day weekend. There are so many positive things to be said about this festival. It is a world of its own filled with beautiful music, positive people, smiles in every direction, and of course Grateful Dead Tunes.

Railroad Earth has announced a return to Red Rocks Amphitheatre Friday 9/18, with special guest Snarky Puppy. The show will be followed by a play at the Boulder Theatre 9/19. Tickets to the Boulder Theatre show will only be available as a two-day pass that includes the Red Rocks show.

This past week, singer, songwriter and multi-faceted bass wizard Andrew Altman of Railroad Earth sat down with the Grateful Web to discuss the debut of his self-titled solo album, produced by JRAD’s Tom Hamilton. The animated conversation also veered into discussion about some of the similarities and differences between upright and electric bass, Railroad Earth’s electrifying performance at Red Rocks this past summer, and Altman’s major musical influences including Phil Lesh and Mike Gordon among many others.

Railroad Earth bassist Andrew Altman spent some time in the studio with Tom Hamilton (American Babies, JRAD, Phil Lesh) last year and the resulting five song EP is now available in most online outlets. Andrew has contributed a couple songs to the RRE catalog in the past but this is his first collection of all original material with Tom Hamilton handling production duties and performing on the record as well.
