Summer Camp Music Festival

Announcing their second wave of artists performing at this year’s 20th anniversary event, Summer Camp Music Festival shows no signs of slowing down in building anticipation for Memorial Day Weekend.  Founded in 2001 by Jay Goldberg Events and Entertainment, Summer Camp has stayed true to its community vibe roots while exploring almost every musical genre imaginable, all while bringing people together from all over the country for a weekend of fun, music and traditional camping.

I made a wish on the Zoltar fortune Telling machine. I wished I could unwind and rewind back to the glory days. I wished my youth wasn’t wasted when I was young. I wished to be me, free of worry, like the days of childhood Summer Camp, adventurous and curious, exploring the wonders of nature.

So, I’m breaking out my camping gear - cleaning out the tent, waterproofing it, freshening up the sleeping bag.  It’s the weekend before Summer Camp Music Festival! Recently, I caught Pigeons Playing Ping Pong and Twiddle on the Road to Red Rocks, and they were on fire! Twiddle is new to me. I really enjoyed the vibe going on between these two east coast bands.  They both are playing Summer Camp festival on a seemingly relentless touring schedule.

Today, Summer Camp Music Festival unveiled a video of Pigeons Playing Ping Pong's performance of crowd-pleaser "Posideon" featuring a very special sit-in with moe.'s Al Schnier. This comes in advance of tomorrow's Red Rocks Amphitheater performance where Pigeons Playing Ping Pong makes their debut at the famed stage in direct support of moe.

After a colossal performance at Summer Camp, Grateful Web’s June Reedy Jameson got to sit down with Pigeons Playing Ping Pong’s Greg Ormont. At Summer Camp they took the stage to a huge double rainbow that seemed to intensify as they played. Continuing the magical streak, they will play Red Rocks for their first time with Moe on July 12th.

These are the tall tales told by campfire light, under the moon just slight, and peppered with lasers dancing overhead.  The scissor-like sidestep from reality, Summer Camp sizzled brighter than ever this year. There was Pigeons Playing Ping Pong with a rainbow net, a revival of the old 1992 hip-hop days, and a field full of living flowers being watered by the sun.  2018’s installment of Summer Camp had musical notes formed by clouds for miles.

Welcome back to Summer Camp!  This year promises to deliver big name acts as well as local heroes. Some of the most memorable collaborations of the past have primed us for this year’s fest. Not only does the 17th annual Summer Camp Music Festival feature 2 nights of Moe. and Umphrey’s McGee but 2018 will bring Phil Lesh & the Terrapin Family Band as well as Los Lobos, Greensky Bluegrass, and Leftover Salmon.

On The Road Tour brings the magic of Summer Camp Music Festival to your town. We'll be visiting multiple cities across the country searching for the best talent the area has to offer. Come out to support local artists as they play for a spot at #SCamp18!

Another Summer Camp Music Festival has come and gone, and while every weekend spent at Three Sisters Park in Chillicothe, IL beholds something different, this weekend had an extra-special feeling to it that was hard to put your finger on. Maybe it was the seemingly yearly re-occurring thunder storm that rolled through the festival grounds mid-afternoon Friday, soaking the grounds and bringing out the inner-child in the crowd as fans stomped through the puddles with their rain boots.

On May 25, 2017, I packed up my car, picked up my brother-in-law, and headed to Chillicothe, IL for the annual Summer Camp Music Festival. However, I was not going there primarily to see Moe. and Umphrey’s McGee, along with a host of others, but to work a booth as a nonprofit. It provided a very interesting and honestly, one heck of an different experience.
