Pittsburgh-based folk band Buffalo Rose is gearing up to release their new EP, Borrowed & Blue: Live Around One Microphone, late May; a dynamic compilation of originals and cover songs ranging from all genres. The band consists of Bryce Rabideau (mandolin), Shane McLaughlin (guitar, harmonies), Malcolm Inglis (dobro), Jason Rafalak (upright bass), and the ethereal harmonies of Lucy Clabber and Rosanna Spindler.

The righteous funk train was full steam ahead when 2020 began.  Lettuce celebrated their Grammy nomination for Best Contemporary Instrumental Album for their album Elevate. They toured Europe while anticipating their big Stanley Hotel shows back home and releasing their new album Resonate. But then...

Andy Frasco is a live wire with so much love and attention coming at his fans, it’s an unstoppable force.  Hit with an unmoveable virus, he has taken to the internet like a duck on a pond.  Check out his quarantine sing-along videos.  He’s got hits such as Whitney Houston’s “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” and most recently he has done an outstanding job with all his friends on his zoom rendition of Shania Twain’s “Man I Feel Like a Woman.” His heartwarming antics bring a smile to a cold time known forevermore as COVID-19.

The Get Right Band out of Asheville, NC, will be releasing their 5th studio album on 5/23/2020.  My only complaint is that it can’t come out sooner.  With 14 tracks and an edgy vibe, these songs are keeping me dancing while the #shelterinplace order continues.

When it comes to heavenly deities, the preferred choice of instrument is the harp.  There is something so different and refreshing about the harp. In these days of pandemic and panic, a little taste of heaven may do you good. Perhaps because of the huge statue of a harp, it’s not something we see often in the jam band scene until now.

Stepping out into his own solo project, Dave Simonett of Trampled By Turtles has recently released his new album, Red Tail.

GW: Describe the recording process for Call the Captain for our readers. What was the vibe like in the studio? And what drew you to Bill Reynolds as producer?

Gideon King & City Blog are a jazz-rock fusion project that have become fixtures in the NYC music scene over the last few years. Much like Steely Dan (both in sound and set-up), King leads the band as songwriter and guitarist while inviting a rotating cast of top musicians to join. In just a few years the band has gone from playing small clubs to venues like Brooklyn Bowl, City Winery, and Joe's Pub, and their last album featured artists like John Scofield, Marc Broussard, and Grace Weber.

While thankfulness is inherent to a Deadhead’s makeup, oftentimes, we don’t stop and fully let our gratitude overwhelm us. The Skull & Roses Music Festival in Ventura, California this April 2nd-5th will easily remedy that. Offering a most wonderful setting in a most sacred spot, Skull & Roses provides the perfect opportunity to allow our appreciation to soar. I sense the familiar thrill rise within me as I digest this year's lineup— Billy & the Kids, Oteil & Friends, Jeff Chimenti, Steve Kimock, and George Porter Jr.

Colorful, charismatic, and often found concocting his next blissful beer creation, keyboardist Kyle Hollingsworth has been hard at work. At the same time his band, The String Cheese Incident, takes some well-deserved time off from their relentlessly busy touring schedule.
