Slightly Stoopid and Cloud 9 Adventures have announced the initial artist lineup and event details for the third edition of CLOSER TO THE SUN, a tropical concert vacation held over four nights at an all-inclusive resort located in the beautiful Riviera Maya region of Mexico. After two amazing years, the event returns December 14 –18, 2016 with a stellar lineup to join host band Slightly Stoopid. Featuring three shows by Slightly Stoopid, the lineup is rounded out by the addition of Dirty Heads, Matisyahu, Tribal Seeds, and Stick Figure, who will all be playing two shows each. The schedule will feature multiple performances held right on the beach, sunset sets, poolside sets, and late night parties in the open-air palapa – all steps away from guestrooms and the all-inclusive amenities of Now Sapphire. This is a fan-centric intimate experience filled with much more then music. On-site, the event promotes a full schedule with artist-hosted activities and workshops, an autograph signing, pool contests, beach side games, and impromptu jam sessions, bringing fans and artists together on a vacation in paradise. Located on a beautiful white beach and lush grounds, the Now Sapphire Resort offers all-inclusive, luxurious accommodations with an intimate vibe. The resort features finely appointed guest suites, a world-class spa and fitness center, wide variety of dining options, and beachfront palapas, all within a short walk of your own private accommodations and the main stage.

Slightly Stoopid band member Miles Doughty states, "Closer to the Sun is the ultimate pre-holiday get away for fans and the bands. From the beach to the cenotes and ruins, the Mayan Riviera is truly a special place. We’re looking forward to getting back to Puerto Morelos and having some holiday fun in the sun hanging with all of our friends! There is nothing better than being able to jam with your friends in paradise on the beach.  Come spend the holidays with the Stoopid family!"

The event is located just north of fishing village Puerto Morelos and 25 minutes south of the Cancun Airport, making it convenient and easy to explore the surrounding Mayan region from Cancun to Tulum. The nearby village of Puerto Morelos is a quick trip from the resort, enabling guests the ability to experience the local vibrancy of Mexico. Off-site excursions to explore the beautiful Mayan region can be booked separately through the Closer to the Sun website (www.closertothesun.com).

Closer to the Sun is again partnering with charitable organization Positive Legacy, encouraging artists and fans to participate in a day of service and cultural connection in the community of Puerto Morelos as a way of giving back. Positive Legacy is a 501(c)(3) charity whose mission is to integrate live music and service by taking actions that positively impact local communities and the environment. In addition to the annual day of service, a silent and a live auction will be held with all proceeds going to support the ongoing projects in the region. Guests will also be encouraged to bring school supplies and personal care products for the donation drive to benefit a local organization in need.

All-inclusive packages for returning Closer to the Sun guests can be booked during the presale on Tuesday, May 17, 2016. Following the pre-sale, there will be a general on sale beginning Wednesday, May 18 at 2pm EST at www.closertothesun.com. An initial $250 per person deposit reserves a room with payment plans to break up additional costs.
