Lindsey Horner Releases Solo Bass Recording

One of the more versatile musicians in Jazz and modern music, bassist Lindsey Horner has performed and recorded worldwide with musicians in genres from Free Jazz to Irish Traditional, singer/songwriters to classical chamber orchestras and many things in between.  As a leader, he has produced recordings featuring his original style of World Folk Jazz and performed with some of the more cutting edge musicians of the present era.

With this new recording, “One More Forever” on his own Upshot Records imprint, Lindsey realizes a long standing goal of making a statement on solo bass, his main instrument and primary focus of his almost 40 year career thus far. “Many of my bass heroes have tested their mettle by making a solo recording at some point: Miroslav Vitous, Ron Carter, Gary Peacock, Dave Holland (who has made two, as well as a solo cello record). I felt that I had put it off long enough so I went into the studio with my right hand man, drummer/percussionist Jeff Berman who played on about half of the tracks - thus not making it strictly speaking “solo” as in me only, but Jeff has been such an integral part of so many of my projects and we complete each others’ musical sentences.”

The recording is all original music plus an interesting take on Thelonious Monk’s. “Let’s Cool One” and one of his favorite tunes to play on, Gigi Gryce’s “Minority”.

The CD was recorded, mixed and mastered at Kaleidoscope Sound of Union City, NJ by the excellent Randy Crafton. It features beautiful photography by Judy Schiller, design by Scott Friedlander and liner notes by Lindsey’s long time friend and colleague, Irish bassist, composer and educator, Ronan Guilfoyle.

The CD is available in physical form and digital download via Lindsey’s website, www.lindseyhorner.com as well as via CD baby https://lindseyhorner.hearnow.com and most streaming and download services, iTunes, Amazon, spotify, rhapsody etc.
