Chicago singer-guitarist Ryan Herrick announced that proceeds of his new EP will benefit humanitarian projects taking place in one of the most economically challenged areas of the United States: the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota.

Throughout the month of August, the new EP, Sagitta, will be available for pre-order, along with additional exclusive content made available through Indiegogo. Access Herrick’s campaign here.  The debut single, “Whiteclay’’ is currently streaming on Music. Defined.; listen here.

30 percent of Indiegogo pre-orders and proceeds will help fund hunger relief projects taking place on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. To do this, Herrick is partnering with the nonprofit organization Conscious Alliance. Since 2002, Conscious Alliance has been a reliable source of emergency food for families in need living in the isolated Reservation.

Through their Food Sovereignty and Youth Empowerment Center in Oglala, Conscious Alliance provides bags of groceries to an average of 50 families each week. In addition, every student at Loneman School (K-8) receives nourishment for the weekend through Conscious Alliance’s ‘Bring Nutrition Home’ Backpack program.

Based in Boulder, Colorado, Conscious Alliance operates through ongoing food collection programs by organizing at music events nationwide.
