Colorado quartet Head for the Hills has announced their 2011 plans for New Year’s. On 12/30, the band performs at the historic Sheridan Opera House in Telluride, CO, presented by the SAF Holiday Concert Series. On 12/31, Head for the Hills visits Keystone, Colorado for a New Year’s Eve celebration at Warren Station Center for the Arts, nestled at the base of Keystone Mountain. Ski & ride all day and countdown to 2012 at night! Steamboat Springs Americana/Folk infused rockers, Missed the Boat, will kick the evening off on 12/31.

"Head for the Hills has created a sound that is all at once organic, precise, timeless, and brand-new,” as reported by the Missoula Independent. The acclaimed Colorado quartet has been receiving nation-wide recognition in response to their refreshing take on acoustic music. Described musically as “Modern Acoustic,” H4TH produces an endearing mixture of homegrown compositions, engaging harmonies, and improvisation. In the live setting, H4TH ventures into a myriad of musical styles and sonic landscapes that appeal to a boundless array of listeners.

The past year has been outright explosive year for the quartet, having been voted by the Westword Magazine Music Showcase (Denver, CO) as the “Best Bluegrass” band in Colorado, a highly esteemed honor, for 2 years in a row (2010 & 2011). The group was selected to perform at SxSW (South by Southwest) in 2011, and were also a "SxSW Critics Picks” choice, via the Austin Statesman/360. The band performed at a host of music festivals in the summer 2011 including: Telluride Bluegrass Festival-NightGrass (Sold Out), High Sierra Music Festival, DelFest & many more.

To get a sense of Head for the Hills’ snowballing momentum, look no further than the surrounding talent on their self-titled sophomore release Head for the Hills, produced by Drew Emmitt (Leftover Salmon). The album garnered the group a charted position on the CMJ Top 200 national radio listings. The self titled release also earned the group a #29 position on Colorado Radio’s “Top 50 Albums of 2010.”

Missed the Boat is a high-energy Colorado-dance-grass band that has been on the Grammy ballot 7 times, and is quickly becoming one of the region's most sought-after acts. Able to move through and blend a wide array of musical genres such as Bluegrass, Americana, Funk, Folk, Blues and just plain Rock and Roll, Missed the Boat always keeps the crowd going with its tight harmonies and eclectic arrangements. With two albums released and more to come,  Missed the Boat is clearly making its mark on the regional and national music scene.
