After the successful release of their first album together as a duo, San Francisco’s Bay Area-based Meklit and Quinn will be touring Colorado during the month of February. Their self-titled album was released last fall by Porto Franco Records and received rave reviews across the board.Singer-songwriter Meklit Hadero, a Senior TED Fellow and deeply involved pioneering force in San Francisco's artistic scene, is a global tapestry of musical and cultural influences. Her music blends New York jazz and West Coast folk with traditional Ethiopian and much more. "She sings about fragility, hope, and self-empowerment, and exudes all three," (SF Chronicle), offering her messages in a voice as sensuous and original as it is stunning. Equally at home across genres, Quinn DeVeaux is a commanding frontman who turns out remarkable original work filled with joy, grit and irresistible beats. A catchy crossroads of Chicago blues and New Orleans soul and gospel, he is packing in Bay Area dance floors and beyond. Now, for the first time, these two artists of universal appeal and unbounded optimism join forces. Their chemistry and piquant blend of influences take the spotlight in this selection of originals and covers of their favorite pop songs. From Arcade Fire and MGMT to Lou Reed and Stevie Wonder, the San Francisco duo's imagination and passion buoy well-loved songs to new heights. The duo has also just released their new music video for their original tune “Sent By You”.  Directed by Meklit and Quinn, shot and choreographed in one impressive take.“Eclecticism is the hallmark of their debut disc as a duo…the tracks are quite unlike anything the two singers had previously done on their own - richly harmonized renditions of rock tunes.” - SF Chronicle“…a fine example of the symbiotic power of two artists working toward a greater expressive voice.” - Santa Barbara News PressThe soft grooves and stirring melodies are modern in composition, but they reflect a sort of classical ambiance from America's early music history. The music is not rock or folk; it's just good music with good instrumentation. It's that simple...and delectable. - Inside World MusicCO Tour Dates:02/08/13 @ Steve’s Guitar – Carbondale, CO02/09/13 @ The Community House (Chautauqua) – Boulder, CO02/10/13 @ Lannie’s Clocktower Cabaret – Denver, CO
