On a cold fall evening, November 11, 1997, the founding lineup for the Dark Star Orchestra began its first of four weekly performances run at Chicago’s Martyrs’. Fast forward to 2014 where today the band has performed 2379 shows in that time, eclipsing the number of shows the Grateful Dead performed over its 30 year arc.

With DSO’s Fall Tour beginning tomorrow in Buffalo, today the band announces a unique lineup swap for two performances on this tour. With the band’s bassist Skip Vangelas unable to perform with the group on November 21 (Lupo’s in Providence, RI) and November 22 (The Dome at Oakdale in Wallingford, CT), Dark Star Orchestra once again welcomes Dead family keyboardist Jeff Chimenti (Furthur, RatDog, The Dead) to the band’s stage for these two nights, while DSO’s Rob Barraco holds down the bass role for these performances.
