Magnolia Festival: We can rediscover the wonders of nature, down by the (Suwannee) riverside..

This year’s Magnolia Festival was characterized by the usual wonderful blend of bluegrass, reggae and families and by unusually cold night- time temperatures.  Hovering above freezing at night, the mountain music sounded just right in the cool mountain air of the Florida “hills”.  As I sit in tank top and shorts in eighty degrees of Florida sunshine to write this, frozen fingers, frozen breath, the warmth of the fire and being bundled up from head to toe here last weekend seems surreal.  Though it was “crisp” t

I have wanted to make a pilgrimage to the historic venue called The Stone Pony in Asbury Park, NJ since I first started to learn about good music in the early 90's.

Leftover Salmon & moe. Team Up at Red Rocks

Last weekend Colorado's own Red Rocks Amphitheater hosted the dynamic duo of jamgrass pioneers Leftover Salmon and New York rockers moe.  What was supposed to be a night of ugly weather turned out to be clear and pleasant, back dropped by a magnificent full moon.

Moest Underrated?

I have always felt that moe. had never truly gotten the respect that they gratefully deserve. It is slowly dawning on fans of the jamband and other scenes that moe is for real. Coming off the release of an amazing new album The Conch, that even Rolling Stone gave 4 out of 5 stars to, moe. came to Philly to rock.  So did the fans.
