EOTO

EOTO Hits the Sunshine State in March

eotoIn the midst of a massive winter and spring tour, the left coast breakbeat, glitch-hop, dubstep, and house duo EOTO is prepared to dig their toes in the sandy Florida beaches for a weeklong string of dates in the Sunshine State. Gearing up for their very own version of Spring Break, EOTO has penned six shows in a seven-day span. Opening March 9th with a performance in Islamorada, the duo is poised to catch some rays while lending their innovative blend of live instrumentation and digital mixing to a Florida beach party soundtrack.

Featuring Jason Hann and Michael Travis, formerly of the progressive jam outfit String Cheese Incident, EOTO is a shot of adrenaline to the heart of the music industry. Differing in sonic stature from their mixing forefathers, the typical EOTO live experience is 100% atypical, meaning nothing is pre-recorded, nothing is pre-looped and no set is pre-planned. Every night is a distinctive journey into the musical minds of Hann and Travis, each feeding off of the other’s creativity and the audience’s vibes. EOTO combines cutting-edge technology with live instrumental performance to create truly original and melodic dance music in the moment.

Following the show at TIB Bank of the Keys in Islamorada, EOTO will venture along the coast to Key West, Miami Beach, Delray Beach and Jupiter. The Florida tour will conclude in Gainesville with a performance at Common Grounds on March 15th. Beginning February 17th, all ticket holders who can prove proof of purchase, will be allotted a free replacement ticket to the show of their choice in 2009, for one of the three participating acts (festival and private dates excluded).

Organizers of the free ticket exchange have set up a dedicated fax line and email account for ticket holders to submit their proof of purchase for review. The ticket exchange ends at midnight on March 17th and all approved participants will be contacted after March 18th to be given the opportunity to select their replacement show (must be a published and scheduled date at the time of selection).

EOTO'S NON-STOP DANCE TOUR

photos by Amanda Bell- for the Grateful Web

The left coast duo EOTO is heading back out on the road with their unique brand of breakbeat/Glitch-hop and house. The non-stop dance party  begins this February with west coast dates already announced and east coast dates on the horizon. Leaving no stone un-turned, this could quite possibly be the year of EOTO.

Consisting of one third of the progressive jam sextet, The String Cheese Incident, the joint venture between Jason Hann and Michael Travis is a fresh, 100% improvised collaboration of live instrumentation and digital mixing.

In the world of EOTO, nothing is pre-recorded, nothing is pre-looped and no set is pre-planned. Each show transports the listener to a unique time and place, providing an unmatched sonic dance experience night in and night out. Inspired by legendary DJ's and mix artists of the world, the duo combines cutting-edge technology with live instrumental performance to create truly original and melodic dance music in the moment. Merging hypnotic rhythms, pounding bass, and mesmerizing melodies, EOTO's sonic assault is certainly the forefront of an emerging musical movement.

What's striking about an EOTO performance versus those of their mix forefathers is that because nothing is pre-recorded there is no set list or specific plan to where the music will take the listener (or the band for that matter). This modern symphonic, freedom ensures that with each night the sound can only morph into something bigger, something greater than the whole for both the band and the fans. This inspiration is what keeps the duo out night after night, literally on the hunt for a new sound in a new era.

Performing in roles completely different than the ones in SCI, Jason Hann keeps the crowds moving. Covering percussion, layering eclectic-glitchy samples, live auxiliary re-mixing, as well as the playing drum kit, Hann provides the rhythmic backbone for all things EOTO. Adding blissful and edgy tonal ambience is the multi-talented Michael Travis. Blending bass, guitar, keyboards and hand percussion, as well as live mixing and re-mixing, Travis creates the spacey flavor capturing the listener's senses. With the raw power of live drums, the music is all created on the spot, recorded, and remixed live, proving no two shows are exactly alike. While completely different from SCI, life-long fans as well as new fans will be drawn to the dance frenzy and originality that is EOTO.

With back-to-back performances spanning the western seaboard and more national dates yet to be announced, EOTO is poised to deliver great advancements to the modern music world.

HAMPTONITE! w/ EOTO, Pretty Lights, Boombox & More!

EOTO - photo by Amanda Bell- for the Grateful Web

This March marks the return of Phish and their first shows (Hampton Coliseum, Hampton VA- March 6th, 7th, 8th) in almost five years.  With their return brings much cause to celebrate, and Glitterglu Productions is more than happy to serve up a tasty dessert to this musical main course with two Phish after-show parties at the Dr. Mary T. Christian Auditorium in Hampton, VA, only 3.5 miles from the Hampton Coliseum, Friday March 6th and Saturday March 7th.  The dance infused music line up features a who's who of the live electronica scene, including EOTO, BoomBox, Pretty Lights, J.Wail, Freepeoples Frequency (featuring members of SeepeopleS) and Sci Fi.  Although billed as an after-show for the main event, doors open at 9pm both nights and the shows will start soon thereafter for the many Phish fans who make the migration to Hampton, VA and aren't fortunate enough to score tickets

Glitterglu Productions has truly cooked up an eclectic mix of live electronic improv and beat oriented dance acts to keep bodies shaking until 5 am. Headlining the first night are jam-scene veterans EOTO.  Consisting of one third of the progressive sextet, The String Cheese Incident, EOTO is a joint venture between former SCI members Jason Hann and Michael Travis.  The duo is an entirely improvisational collaboration of live instrumentation and digital mixing. They have eagerly taken to the road to deliver a totally inimitable and unforgettable live experience.Performing in roles completely different than the ones in SCI, Jason Hann and Michael Travis keep the crowds moving.  With the raw power of live drums, the music is all created on the spot, recorded, and remixed live, proving no two shows are exactly alike. While completely different from SCI, life-long SCI fans will be drawn to the dance frenzy and originality that is EOTO

The line up for Friday also includes national touring sensation J.Wail who creates his own style of "live-club-funk" through innovative techniques using guitar, bass, vocals, synthesizers and live electronics.  With 450 + shows in the last three years J.Wail has proved himself one of the top up and coming acts on the scene.  Also on the line-up is Wilminton, NC's favorite party band Sci Fi, who recently released their self-titled debut album to much critical acclaim.  Following the after-show in Hampton, Glitterglu Productions is also proud to announce the EOTO Florida Spring Break Tour (March 9-14) consisting of shows in Islamorada (3/9), Key West (3/10), Miami (3/11), Marathon (3/12), Delray Beach (3/13), West Palm Beach (3/14), and Gainesville (3/15).  More Details are provided below and can also be found online

Co-headlining the second night of late night Phish extravaganzas is the wildly popular dance rock duo, Boombox and the Colorado based break-beat duo, Pretty LightsBoomBox is producer/DJ Russ Randolph and singer/songwriter/guitarist Zion Rock Godchaux. This pair of dynamic artists uses their rich musical history and their vision of music and popular culture to deliver a style of music distinctly different from anything heard or seen in music today. This signature sound and show brings live music to a new, elevated level. Pretty Lights is the musical vision of the ultra-versatile Colorado based producer Derek Vincent Smith, accompanied in the live setting by drummer, Cory Eberhard.  Together these two achieve a raw energy rarely reached in the realm of electronic music. At a time when music lovers from almost all subcultures and genres are finding common ground in the basic form of bangin' beats, Pretty Lights is giving the people what they want; electro organic cutting-edge party rocking beats that fill venues with energy and emotion and send dance floors into frenzies.  Derek's latest album, Filling Up The City Skies, is a two disc, 26 track journey through past, present, and future. The album has been downloaded over 30,000 times from the Pretty Lights website in the short three months since its release, proving that the PL sound is not only getting around, it's spreading like a virus.

Rounding out the line up on Saturday night are performances from J.Wail and Freepeoples Frequency (FFQ).  FFQ consists of SeepeopleS frontman Will Bradford and SeepeopleS sound engineer Brooke BinionFFQ recently opened shows for Lotus and Boombox and are relentless in their attempt to revive big-beat electronic music, with their own unique flavor, of course. In addition to an already packed musical line-up, DJ Ginza of Elemental Harmonics will be doing special late night sets on both nights with an array of very speical guests.  All in all, Glitterglu Productions has drawn up a recipe for a fantastic dessert to the dinner that is the return of Phish.  For more information on these events and ticket sales, click here.

EOTO NYE '08 at Wonder Ballroom

photos by Amanda Bell- for the Grateful Web

Portland's history speaks of innovation, industry and eccentrics. This year's 2nd Annual Shanghai Nights celebration honors that past by welcoming in the New Year with an imaginative mix of art, music, Steampunk fashion, and dance. With a diverse and exciting lineup, this night promises to be an unforgettable evening.

Portland's own Scott Law joins forces with Keith Moseley (String Cheese Incident), drummer Jeff Sipe (Aquarium Rescue Unit, Susan Tedeschi) & guitar man Gibb Droll (Marc Broussard) for the highly anticipated WestCoast debut of the aptly named Moseley, Law, Sipe & Droll. Joining the band for a special post-midnight extended set is the electrifying leftcoast breakbeat/glitch-hop/house duo, EOTO, composed of SCI's Jason Hann & Michael Travis. Onstage, EOTO's music is created, recorded and mixed live for a continually evolving & highly danceable musical experience. The Senate, an up-and-coming Seattle-based acoustic rock trio, will kick off the New Years festivities with their catchy songwriting, tight arrangements, sweet vocals, and unorthodox instrumental techniques.

No Shanghai Nights would be complete without a Shanghai Surprise at midnight. Look for members of each of the bands to play alongside special guests, including world renown fiddler Darol Anger, singer/songwriter and the event's MC, Big Water, and the very own Shanghai Rose Queen, Stephanie Schneiderman. There will also be surprise guests, creative merriment, a sculpture exhibit by musician Tony Furtado, and live painting by Daniel Work, who will be creating the Shanghai Nights commemorative posters during the show.

For more information, visit www.nyeportland.com, and be sure to check us out on Facebook, MySpace and Twitter to keep abreast of the latest news on what is quickly becoming a Portland New Year tradition.

Rain Down On Me: EOTO @ The Mish

I realize more and more every day since the summer of 2008 started, that a sizeable number of people have never been to the Mishawaka Amphitheater, and a good portion of those that have never visited have never even heard about it. Gasp! It is becoming unfathomable to me that people have never heard of what most affectionately call The Mish.

EOTO Wraps Up Spring 2008 Tour

photos by Amanda Bell- for the Grateful Web

EOTO (pronounced E-oh-toe) featuring Jason Hann and Michael Travis of String Cheese Incident fame are wrapping up a string of dates taking them from the east coast throughout the Midwest. The project has eagerly taken to the road with an entirely unique and completely refreshing experience.

Stepping outside of the String Cheese box entirely, the duo delivers monster bass, hypnotic beats and intoxicating melodies in a totally unrehearsed, unscripted dance party, unleashing diverse performances night in and night out. In the world of EOTO, nothing is pre-recorded, nothing is pre-looped, no sets are pre-planned and the crowd feels it. Each night transports the listener to a different place and a different time.

Drawing from the ethos of some of the great DJ's and computer artists of the world, they use cutting edge technology to create truly original and melodic dance music in the moment with the undeniable power of live drums. The music is all created on the spot, recorded, then mixed and remixed live to create an ever-evolving musical experience.

Playing roles completely different than they did in SCI, Jason Hann commands the drum kit, all percussion and samples. Michael Travis creates the tonal ambiance through the use of the bass, guitar, keyboards, and hand percussion, all while throwing down the live mixing. While completely different from SCI, life-long fans as well as new fans will be drawn to the spontaneity that is EOTO.
