Kyle Hollingsworth Band dates and Hop On Tour details Announced

In anticipation of The String Cheese Incident’s first full tour in more than four years, keyboardist Kyle Hollingsworth will gear up in Colorado with two shows on the Front Range with Kyle Hollingsworth Band, featuring very special guest and SCI bandmate Michael Kang.

The String Cheese Incident Announces 2011 Fall Dates

Today, The String Cheese Incident announced their first multi-city run in four years. “Roots Run Deep” 2011 begins Thanksgiving weekend and travels through southern and eastern U.S. historic venues including Atlanta’s legendary Fox Theatre, a return to the newly re-opened Georgia Theatre, Nashville’s landmark Ryman Auditorium (with a special acoustic first set), and a two-night stand at New York City’s magnificent United Palace. The full list of tour dates is included below, and tickets go on sale beginning August 25 at www.stringcheeseincident.com.

The String Cheese Incident has only made limited appearances since 2007, so “Roots Run Deep” affirms the band is back together and ready to rock. In 2009, SCI sent waves through the music community when they broke their almost three year silence by announcing they would play a headlining slot at the second annual ROTHBURY music festival. The performances were downright epic, and left fans old and new - and the band themselves - wondering what was next.

In 2010 and 2011, SCI played a handful of sold out multi-night extravaganzas at Red Rocks Amphitheatre, 1STBank Center, and Horning’s Hideout, and a monstrous “Hulaween” run at Hampton Coliseum. In addition, SCI performed much buzzed-about festival plays at Bonnaroo’s 10 year celebration and the inaugural Electric Forest, where SCI anchored the cutting-edge festival with three headlining performances - and seamlessly bridged the gap between the jamband and electronic music communities once and for all.

Recent live Incidents have proven that The String Cheese Incident continues to evolve, and that the band is more musically inspired and unified than ever. “All of us feel that our recent Incidents have been some of our best yet,” explains SCI’s Keith Moseley. “We are excited to get on the bus and play again in such historic venues.” Michael Kang adds, “It’ll be great to immerse ourselves on the road for a bit. There is nothing like the groove we get into when we play nine shows in ten days. It will allow us to take even more chances.”

TICKETS to SCI Fall Tour 2011: Pre-sale begins Thursday, August 25 at 10am MDT at www.stringcheeseincident.com, with public on-sale on beginning Friday, August 26 (or Saturday, August 27 depending on the tour market) at 10 am MDT at www.ticketmaster.com.

Concurrent with the band’s long-standing ethos of giving back to communities and causes, The String Cheese Incident is looking forward to supporting Conscious Alliance, HeadCount, and Waterkeeper Alliance this Fall Tour.

Live recordings of each show along the Roots Run Deep 2011 will be made available for download. Presale is going on now at www.livecheese.com.

30 years ago, Kyle Hollingsworth set out on a career in music. Since then, with a wealth of desire and incredible ability, Hollingsworth has established himself as a formidable and versatile music talent. Today, as a member of acclaimed jam masters The String Cheese Incident, Hollingsworth is revered by both peers and fans for his ability to write and perform in a mosaic of styles, from rock to classical, ragtime to bebop. Playing in SCI has allowed him unrestricted access to the world of music, and has bestowed on him the kind of fearlessness a composer needs to flirt with such disparate genres. Those who’ve seen SCI know the band can move from funk to bluegrass on a chord change. “In the jam world, where there are no set ways of doing things, we’re not afraid to move in and out of genres,” he says, “and because of that I’ve learned to be creative, not only on stage but in the studio. I can get on board with something pretty quickly. You have to.”

Hollingsworth’s 2009 release, titled Then There’s Now, finds the musician coming in to his own. With solid song material and a slamming new band, Kyle is making his mark in the new, always-evolving music scene. Then There’s Now delivers a blend of vocal and instrumental tunes and seamlessly displays his growth as a musician and as a songwriter.

The String Cheese Incident community has come to expect a Conscious Alliance Food Drive at SCI events. For Winter Carnival, a 3‐panel event poster will be designed (one panel for each night). As always, the limited edition posters will be made available to concertgoers who contribute 10 non-perishable food items per panel, or 25 items for the complete set. Food collected at Winter Carnival 2011 will benefit the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota. Visit www.consciousallaince.org for more information.

2010 was a remarkable year for The String Cheese Incident, with more than 15 years of touring under their belt the band entered a new phase where select events and special destinations took the place of long stretches on the road. This new touring model was highlighted by sold out stops at Red Rocks Amphitheatre and Horning’s Hideout, and monstrous “Hulaween” Incidents at Hampton Coliseum. 2010 also found SCI launching the acclaimed classic archival series Rhythm of the Road, which kicked-off with the legendary Vol 1: Incident in Atlanta - 11.17.00 show from Atlanta, GA.

This year, after a three-year hiatus from the touring circuit, The String Cheese Incident played just a few select shows that sold out in minutes. By all accounts, the epic performers were well worth the long wait. Refreshed and inspired and still making music on their own terms, SCI seems to be once again reinventing the music industry model. Stay tuned for announcement of the band’s highly anticipated 2011 plans.

Having just completed two sets of sold out summer shows at Red Rocks and Horning’s Hideout, 2010 positions The String Cheese Incident for a future where they will continue to break industry standards, this time with unique, over-the-top Incidents as opposed to traditional tours.

The band will conclude the year with an epic Halloween weekend at Virginia’s Hampton Coliseum. “Hulaween 2010” will feature special guests The Disco Biscuits on Friday, October 29th and Saturday, October 30th will offer a three-set evening with The String Cheese Incident. The String Cheese Incident’s recent live release, Trick or Treat (SCI Fidelity Records / October 2009), best tells the potent musical history of SCI’s “Hulaween” Incidents. Known to perform special concerts comprised heavily of cover tunes each Halloween, Trick or Treat offers selections from SCI performances recorded at Atlanta’s Variety Playhouse (1998), Philadelphia’s Electric Factory (1999), Portland’s State Theatre (2000), New York City (2001), Los Angeles’ Shrine Auditorium (2002), Sin City’s Cox Pavilion (2003), and Madison Alliant Energy Center (2005). February’s announcement that The String Cheese Incident would perform select summer dates ended a three-year break from touring. Anticipation for these summer plays is high, as demonstrated when tickets to The String Cheese Incident’s Red Rocks and Horning’s Hideout shows sold out just minutes after they went on sale.

For this next era in the band’s career, SCI stays true to its roots by nurturing their community and creating live musical experiences rather than just concerts. In 2010, look for SCI to continue to think out-of-the-box about their musical journey - hosting special events instead of the typical tour-routing, exploring new ways of releasing recordings, and building on their reputation as innovators of fan participation.
