Who doesn’t appreciate a great Christmas song?

A well-crafted Christmas song is akin to a present to the world from the artist who created it. I’m not referring to the type of warmed over, watered down holiday schmaltz that artists rush into the studio to re-record to cash in on their celebrity (Especially now that we can’t get through one holiday without dealing with another; Please people, my turkey is still digesting).

7 Walkers return to World Cafe Live Philadelphia on Tuesday, July 24th at 8pm. Tickets start at $24. The former Grateful Dead drummer, Bill Kreutzmann is joined by Papa Mali for an evening of jamming.

On a cold November Sunday night in Philadelphia not too many people were out and about. But at the World Café Live, near the Ivy League campus of the University of Pennsylvania, there was beautiful music happening with or without the crowds. Even the upstairs of venue has a special feel when it's not overly packed. It felt like a jazz night.

The official launch of Page's tour was here in Philadelphia at the World Café Live about a month earlier than this show, and it was broadcasted live for WXPN. I played hooky from work that day to review that show, and on this night I expected many of the same songs from the new self titled album.

The North Mississippi Allstars decided to play a very unique acoustic tour. It wasn't the usual Mississippi foot stomping rockin' blues, but a mellow country blues that told a story and a history about a time and place much different from here and now. I saw the March 23rd show at the World Café Live in Philadelphia.

The only conversation topic welcomed by Page in this era of moving forward was the acknowledgment of being a Philly boy and his birth at Chestnut Hill Hospital. Page carefully deflected every question about Phish and his college thesis writing days at Goddard.

Guitar player, bass player, virtuoso, jazz and blues legend, and magician are all titles that describe the sorcery that Charlie Hunter creates so effortlessly on stage. Taught originally by guitarist Joe Satriani with a $7 guitar in Berkeley, and since then collaborated with dozens of incredible musicians, Hunter has certainly made his mark at a young age as a guitar great.
