School's out w/Flaming Lips' Drozd, The Turtles, Black Angels

The Academy of Contemporary Music at the University of Central Oklahoma (ACM@UCO) has a full calendar for the rockin' month of May. It all kicks off days before with its next master class featuring Mark Volman - AKA Flo - of 1960s band the Turtles on April 29. The Los Angeles native found fame with his band's 1967 hit single "Happy Together," and will engage students with an in-depth discussion of his career and performance. On April 30, The Turtles featuring Flo and & Eddie will perform at an ACM@UCO fundraiser.

On May 4, ACM@UCO will hold its inaugural graduation ceremonies, bidding farewell to its first class of students, including those who have landed high-profile jobs in the music industry. Flaming Lips multi-instrumentalist and former master class speaker Steven Drozd is confirmed as the special guest speaker for the event.

In addition, on May 5, 60 ACM@UCO-affiliated bands will perform across 11 venues in Oklahoma City's historic district as part of ACM@UCO's Bricktown Takeover. On May 10, ACM@UCO will host a master class with guitar legend Robben Ford. On May 7, ACM@UCO's student-run Performance Lab will play host to a performance by Man Man, followed by The Black Angels on May 20.

Wanda Jackson to play LP release show at ACM@UCO

The Academy of Contemporary Music at the University of Central Oklahoma will kick off the 2011 spring semester Jan 28 when Queen of Rockabilly Wanda Jackson comes to the Performance Lab for a free, release week concert celebrating her new Jack White-produced album, 'The Party Ain't Over' (out Jan 25).

It's been an unforgettable 2010 for ACM@UCO. The school hosted master classes and exclusive mentoring sessions with top artists, including Jackson Browne, the Mountain Goats and Local Natives. Many of the artists also performed concerts at the school's brand new music venue, The Performance Lab, which offers students hands-on experience in the world of live music booking, promotion, and production. Additionally, this semester's Industry Link seminar connected students with key industry figures, including high-profile managers and staff from Pitchfork, Sesac, and more.

Since its creation, The Academy of Contemporary Music at the University of Central Oklahoma has generated worldwide buzz with its innovative, groundbreaking approach to music education - the first of its kind in the United States. The school, which grants a two-year associate's degree in music performance and production, is the U.S. branch of Britain's groundbreaking Academy of Contemporary Music, based in Guildford, England.

Nebraska Hosting Oklahoma & 9 Recruits!

Go Big Red!- for the Grateful Web
Even us Colorado Girls Love The Huskers! - for the Grateful Web

This is a big weekend for Nebraska football.  The Huskers are looking for win number 6 and another big conference win.  An impressive showing will surely help the Huskers in national exposure as well as getting a few commitments from visiting recruits.

Grateful Web put together a cheat sheet to help identify the visiting recruits this weekend.  The cheat sheet is a WORD document that you can download and print out.  All information and content came from RIVALS.COM.  They get all credit for the content, we just stuffed it into this document so we could print it out and take it to the game.

Perhaps some of you that are going to the game could print out several copies and pass them out so that others can help personalize the experience for these talented kids!

Here is an attempt at converting the document to HTML.  I can't guarantee how well it will line up, but I think it's close!  It displays like crap as a web page, but it should print out pretty well (three pages).
